Nice Hardware -- Mostly

The second gen Roku is nice. It does everything as far as basic streaming needs are considered. I didn't need anything to fancy and expensive, which was why I went with the Roku in in the first place.
Now, a good three months into owning/using the Roku, weird things started to happen. Mostly, it would conk out and keep resetting. I looked online and other customers complained about similar defective issues. It stopped eventually, just plugged the device out, plugged it back in and it was fine again.
But it's still a great system if you don't mind your player doing much more than stream music/TV/movies.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku beats Cable--hands down

I've had my Roku 2 for over a year and am very pleased with its performance. Easy to install, easy to use. The only free channels I use regularly are PBS and Smithsonian. For Amazon, Acorn, Blockbuster--Roku is the best way I've found to use those services. I do not watch cable TV at all--I use Roku 2 exclusively for video.

What I want to watch when I am ready to watch!

The Roku has helped me escape from high cable fees and overall poor programming. I can now watch only what I intentionally want to see, rather than picking the 'best of the worst' that's available.

Good with a concern

I have 2 units, the Roku2 and Roku3, both remotes stopped working...Is it a battery issue or what? Don't know what to do with these things....Otherwise the actual unit works as described.....Bad remotes!

Just what I needed

I wanted a small box with big abilities. Roku fit the bill. My TV hangs on the wall with the Roku hung from the back of the TV. The radio remote, rather than line of sight IR, makes this setup work well.
