Best Choice I ever made

I bought my roku player to replace my expensive cable tv. I was very pleased with all the different channels you can get. between hulu plus and netflix i have 1000's of more choices of movies and tv shows then i ever had with cable and the best part is I get to watch what I want when it's convenient for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Outstanding From Roku

Purchasing a Roku has been one of the best decisions in terms of pure entertainment & a whole other realm of possibilities. This tiny little box gives you the opportunity to not only watch movies or TV shows but to explore the entire world of entertainment & games! Yes, games! From the very simple to the complex..
We have had no major issues with Roku that are so common with cable & satellite & we have owned one for several years.Purchasing a Roku will give you the opportunity to get rid of the more expensive channels of cable & satellite.
More & more channels are consistently being added to Roku expanding the Roku experience. There is so much to look through that I just cannot list everything here. But, do not think that everything is free. I estimate that around 90% of the Roku content is free.
You have the option of adding Amazon,Netflix & many other similar packages to your Roku. I suggest, purchase a Roku & explore everything that it has to offer before making a final decision on what to add. Actually,this process is alot of fun.Also,another suggestion is to order an extra remote when you purchase your Roku player. I am not saying that the remote is cheaply made but because of its' constant use, it could wear out.We have had our original remote for several years & we have used it & abused it & it is still going strong. Also, stock up on AA batteries because you will go through them during your total Roku experience.
I have nothing remotely negative to say about Roku & everything that it makes available to you.It has to be one of the best products to come along in a very long time.I do envision Roku,Amazon,Netflix & several others eventually putting the very expensive DirecTv,Dish & many cable companies out of business in the very near future.These expensive companies cannot offer everything that Roku,Amazon & Netflix does. Wow,remember that you have internet access on your TV through Roku & the internet as everyone knows has access to the entire world.That is what you get from Roku.
The price is outstanding & cannot be beat by anyone offering the same range of entertainment possibilities.I am a very,very particular person & am very picky about what I like & what works the best Roku has passed my expectations.
I have heard nothing negative about Roku from anyone that has one. One day I hope that Roku gives us access to our local channels & local sports channel,Fox Sports.
I guess I could ramble on & on about what a great deal Roku really is but what I say to you is,buy one to see for yourself.You just cannot find a better deal anywhere.

Getting very little use compared to Chromecast.

I bought this device at the same time I got my first Chromecast to test out the difference and in hope of discovering compelling Roku features.
I found no such features. The slow (and, sometimes, glitchy) interface is annoying and led me to a conclusion that no interface (i.e., the Chromecast approach) is way better than something I need to navigate with arrow keys and endless menus. Especially annoying is the text entry.
There is exactly one saving grace: the remote control has a headphone jack, which is an excellent feature!
So, in summary, no recommendation from me on account of Roku 2.
