A decent alternative to cable

We bought this to have a selection of programs to watch when we first moved into our new house. It provided a pretty extensive selection of programming and was very entertaining. Unfortunately, we missed a number of selections available only on cable, so we subscribed. We still watch some programming on our Roku however.

I bought this roku 2 about 2 months ago and is working great! My kids love watching their shows and videos. I enjoy watching movies, music concerts and reality shows.

It's a great alternative to regular TV. You can always something to watch, be it a TV show, movie or documentary.

I gave this to 80-year old Mom for Mother's Day. She loves it! Easy to install and, more importantly, very easy to use -- intuitive.

While I'm generally happy with the Roku2, there are a couple of things that I would like to see changed/improved. First, as a parent of young kids, I'd love to see the Roku2 incorporate the Netflix Profiles - it does on the Roku3 and Stick, but not on the 2. I've briefly looked online and haven't really been able to see that there are any plans to do this. I also would rather have the Roku2 just come with a remote with IR capabilities - I understand it's available for purchase - so we can control the volume on the TV on a single remote. Another thing that kind of bothers me is how hot the Roku2 runs. Perhaps because it's such a small device, cooling becomes more difficult?
On a positive note, the Roku2 does Amazon Instant Video better than the Google TV (however, because of profiles, I prefer the Google TV for Netflix).

Great but missing some things

I bought this around six months ago and I was and still pleased with my purchase. Specially the headphone jack on the remote is a very good feature for me. However, after a few months of buying it, Roku updated the Netflix and YouTube apps but that update didn't come to my Roku 2 yet it was released to older versions of the device along with Roku 3.
I would recommend this to a friend!
