I've had my Roku2 for a few months, maybe a year. It was great at first, even better once I could watch Youtube on it. But for the last few months it has been randomly freezing up and restarting. It happens no matter what channel I'm watching. It has nothing to do with my connection as all my other devices and computers still work fine. Sometimes it will show a movie or show fine and other times it will shut down and not work properly again for several days, no matter what steps I take. Searching the web has only led me to believe it is a software issue that Roku has not solved yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my second Roku. Roku 2 replaced the Roku XD. It's faster and has more features like the earbuds that go into the remote. Now it's even better with YouTube.

I had problems with the remote from day one had to keep resetting soon later would not work at all.So I purchased a roku one remote worked fine

We owned an original Roku for 5 years, then purchased this new Roku 2 about 5 months ago. Works great. Roku has a seemingly endless selection of channels from which to choose. Highly recommended
