Roku is the kind of tech product that comes along all too infrequently. It is easy to install, easy to use, and does exactly what it is supposed to with no fuss. Not only would I recommend it to a friend, I did! Furthermore, I installed it for them, although they probably could have done it on their own.

I already own a Roku 2 but this additional one was the Roku 2 with earbuds. That feature is fine but this unit failed to install properly a number of times. Roku said they would arrange an exchange but never followed through. In the meantime, after another factory reset and install it works. However, it is different to my other unit in that the aspect settings are not as intelligent and I have to use 16:9 Zoom on what is a 16:9 aspect movie to fill more of the screen. I should have stuck with the non-earbud model - the $20 price difference is not justified.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my third streaming device and it is the best of the three. No hesitation for streaming. Lots of channels. I especially like the headset feature. I can enjoy a variety of media after my husband goes to bed and not disturb him.

One drawback short of a 5 star

This is my second Roku. I upgraded to the new 2 so I could have the earphone feature. Very happy with it. It's given me the courage to downgrade my cable service to bare minimums. Only drawback is the awkward way you have to enter any text info.

Good but a little disappointed

In general, I love Roku. I have a Roku3 that is awesome. When it locked up one weekend, I ordered a refurbished Roku2. It works fine, however for some reason when I use Netflix with the Roku2, it does not allow me to select which user I am like it does when I use Netflix with the Roku3. Seems odd that it would be a different experience, but it is. As a result, when my kids watch their sjhows on Roku, it pollutes my lists and recommendations. A real first world problem I know.

Every which way easy

I bought my ROKU six weeks ago to see if I wanted to keep my cable company or go with Netflix and/or Hulu. My tv's old, didn't have the right connections for today's hookups, so I didn't have a lot of options. Price was great, and I've had zero issues. What I didn't like was the assumption I made that the ROKU-specific channels were free, but a lot of them (if not all) require membership. I gave up after a few shots at some of them. But I didn't buy it for that purpose anyway. ROKU is easy to set up, easy to use. And as long as your Internet is working, it will be working. The rest of the story? I decided to keep my cable company (negotiated my rate down) and I bought Netflix after their 30 day free trial. Remember, once you pay for ROKU, you're done. There's no monthly fee (which is what I thought prior to purchase)
