Bought this Roku about 4 months ago and have been super pleased with it. I now get all kinds of HD streaming videos of programs I want to watch. I was able to get rid of my cable connection and payments with this unit. My only minor complaint is that the unit does generate some heat, but I have resolved it by putting a "cushion" under the unit and do turn it off (along with all my other electronic and computer stuff) overnight.
I would recommend this to a friend!

TV on My Terms...At Last!

Six years ago I became so disgusted with the general offerings of network television and the rising cost for cable service that was mediocre at best that I simply pulled the plug on it all. Up until a month ago there was absolutely no television reception of any kind in my home. I did not miss it! A friend gave me a Roku 2 as a gift and set everything up for me. I was skeptical at first but must admit that I very quickly became a believer. I was so pleased, in fact, that I went out and bought a new television set to replace the old clunker that was still sitting in my den collecting dust. I now have television in my home again, but I have it completely on my terms rather than on those of the major television networks or the cable and satellite companies, and best of all, without their exorbitant fees for substandard service. The many entertainment choices and operational options that Roku offers allow me to have television again and to have it my way!

I love it but I hate that you can't shut off power

My Roku tends to get really hot (since it never really shuts off). Then it will freeze. Also the new remote kind of sucks. It will all the sudden stop working so I have to shut everything down and re-sync it. This never happened with the older one.

This is my fourth Roku. I gave up cable five years ago, and have Roku players on all but one of my televisions. The Roku 2 works great!

Great Option to Cable

This has been a real great option to cable. There is plenty to watch even if you don't subscribe to any premium channels. One issue though is overheating. It will recycle itself from time to time so we unplug overnight to cool off.

Purchased Roku 2 over 4 months ago. As an elderly person, I was happy to have a son who showed me how to install and also go to the computer. The instructions are also very easy for me to understand. Enjoying the variety of shows/movies I can watch, on my own schedule.

I have had my Roku2 now for several months and I consider it to be one of the best purchases I ever made as far as electronic devices are concerned. I enjoy watching the movies and series WHEN I want to watch them. If you have high speed internet in your home and are considering buying a Roku, 1, 2 or 3, whichever you are considering, I'm telling you, you can't go wrong with ROKU.
