The remote did not work corectly out of the box. It is not easy to find information about replacement parts or repairs.

I've been a Roku user since 12/2009. I had the original Roku HD and loved it. I decided to upgrade to this box last December. I absolutely love it. We do not have cable in our home so this is our primary form of media. I highly recommend anyone who is cutting the cord to get one. Even if you are planning on upgrading to a Smart TV that has it's on apps, highly recommend you get a Roku as well. Both together make for a much smoother cordless media consumption.
We purchased a a Vizio E series in late July after our old plasma screen cracked and died. I was initially worried that after our TV purchase that it was going to phase out our Roku use. This has not been the case. While both share the same dedicated app buttons for Amazon, Netflix, and MGO The roku remote is by far much easier to use with the Bluetooth...tv remote still has to be pointed at the tv to work! Netflix is now watched almost exclusively thorough the TV app just because of it's ease of use...getting to Roku for Netflix now takes many more steps (changing input to the device, etc). Further the TV allows for those who share and account with others with your own dedicated lists, to select which one you want to use. It would be nice if this was implemented with the Roku app. The TV also has a youtube app which this Roku lacks.
However the Roku still has the superior catalog of apps and has the ability for you to add secret channels that are not published in the catalog. Also it is much easier to navigate apps that lack the dedicated remote button due to the bluetooth remote.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Roku 2...My TV on my time.

I bought my Roku 2 unit in February 2014, after I gave up on Dish network. It was the best entertainment decision I ever made. I never have to record a program again. It works way better than satellite without those annoying dropouts. I would heartily recommend Roku streamers to anybody who is sick of paying high cable and/or satellite prices.

After owning maybe one of the first rokus available, after several years, it slowly became more of a problem to watch than to simply forget about it.. The Roku 2 I have now is faster and very seldom loses signal and when it does, it soon comes back.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We have had a Roku for 4 to 5 years. I just upgraded to the Roku 2 because of the ear-buds that watch without ambient sound.

Concern and Porblem with Roku 2 uit

I am very concerned that my Roku 2 unit seems very warm to the touch, and this concerns me very much. Als it is on all the time which makes me concerned about how long it will last. Also 4 times I have switched to the unit and the unit would not come on-line. I had to re-boot it by unplugging the power and re-plugging it back in to bring it back on line. with movie selection on Direct TV, this unit gives us a viewing option. Netflix leaves a lot to ve desired.
I would recommend this to a friend!
