Poor performance

HULU PLUS works terribly on this player

I bought this player so that I can stream Netflix and Hulu Plus on an older projection TV that does not have HDMI. I can say that Netflix works great all of the time! But if you plan on watching Hulu Plus on a ROKU 2, read others reviews first. If you want to rewind or fast forward what your watching on Hulu, plan on the ROKU 2 freezing and then rebooting. If you want to see what shows you watch, plan on THOSE tiles never loading in the interface. So, don't buy a ROKU 2 if you plan on watching Hulu Plus. Not saying it is the fault of ROKU that it works horribly, but most likely the Hulu Plus software on the ROKU 2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm a first time user, so I don't have experience to compare, but it is taking a while to get used to the process of accessing shows, keeping track of passwords...and figuring out which ones require more money to watch.
The volume control doesn't work...Is it supposed to?
There are a couple of annoying things: the little tag sticking out of the edge of the remote is irritating to the hand; and the remote won't sit flat.

Love Ruku 2 hate remote keeps locking up

Love Roku 2 hate remote that keeps locking up batteries are ok. remote stops responding remove batteries and reinstall and it will reconnect

Beware Deaf Persons

I bought a roku 2. As it turns out, NONE of the shows listed on Roku are closed captioned for the deaf. Hearing persons can enjoy the multitude of shows listed, but a deaf person cannot enjoy any show. I have to return this device, which is useless for a deaf person.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The day my dad received his Roku he was thrilled ha. He likes Plex a lot! and Hulu Latino some Netflix. oh yeah its a great gift. especially cause now his tv is like a smart tv. Right? :)

Tons of channels

We'll never run out of programs, movies, or videos to watch, thousands of which are free. We have Amazon Prime, so they also offer a ton of movies & tv shows from network channels. You can also pay to watch some movies. We really like it. I also like the feature that allows one to plug in headphones to the remote, however it causes the remote batteries to drain VERY quickly, so I really can't recommend using that feature a lot. I put the Roku ap on my I phone and it works very well as a remote, plus offering other features. I've run an extension cable from my surround sound receiver for my headphones, so I guess that eliminated the battery problem. Also, I hope that Youtube is soon available as a channel on the Roku 2. I believe it is available on the model 3.
