I truly enjoy my Roku device, I have watched many programs that were not offered on regular TV and programs that I missed and can watch in their entirety!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 2 has the features I want!

I have had a Roku 2 for over six months now and have enjoyed it. It is easy to set up and allows me access to the features I like such as Hulu Plus, Netflix and Amazon Prime.
The only negative I have found is that when the device is on for awhile (as in days) it sometimes becomes very hot and non responsive. A simple turning off and back on fixes the issue. However, this requires unplugging the device as there is no off switch.

I think the Roku is the best streaming device on the market. The Channels you can add and apps you install are 2nd to none. I have never had an issue with network connection and the speed even on my slow internet connection has never been a problem. If you're thinking of buying a streaming device then I would recommend this device over any other....except maybe another Roku...hahahaha

We bought this last Christmas to use in lieu of paying for cable or satellite dish. It has all the programming you could want. We use it primarily for netflix and other free channels

I wish I had known about the Roku sooner. I use it nearly every night. I especially love how you can plug earphones into the remote.

Roku 2 Is Great for You!

Like so many families, we've had to downsize our expenses, and the decision to stop paying for cable was an easy choice. When we looked at our viewing habits we realized that Roku would be perfect for us. It allows us to view the programs we were most interested in, without paying the outrageous fees that cable companies want, for programs that they select.
If we have only one suggestion it would be to have more choices in the area of news programming.

Ear buds are the best feature.

As a solidly senior citizen, I need to have the volume cranked up to hear the TV across the living room. We have several people living in the house within earshot of the TV. They are on computers trying to concentrate on studies, business or Network Movies while am watching my selected program. Using the ear buds makes life much more enjoyable for everyone within ear shot of my TV. It was easy to set up and the batteries last quite a long time with almost daily use. One other favorite feature that I use very often is the Youtube channel mainly for DIY projects.

Great Little Thing

I cut the cord and bought my first Roku about 9 months ago and haven't looked back. Here is a quick rundown of my experience with Roku...
LOVE:
I was surprised by how small the Roku is. I only wish that my cable box was that small.
Since this was my first streaming device, I was worried about the picture quality: would the picture be fuzzy? Would it stutter? It turns out that the picture quality is much better that the HD cable I used to pay for. My TV never looked better!
I love that the remote works over wifi. That means that you don't have to point the remote at the Roku to get it to work ... its a little thing, but it means that you can hide the Roku device away behind the TV or in the back of a cabinet and never have to perform gymnastics to get the remote pointed at it. I can literally operate the upstairs TV when I'm downstairs! (If I wanted to, not sure why I'd want to do that .. ?)
I love that I can plug headphones into the remote. It's a great feature that I never knew I wanted, but now I use all the time. I can watch some late-night TV without disturbing my wife or turning the volume way down.
The universal search is a great feature. Search for a TV show or movie and the Roku will show you if its available on any channel (so you don't have to individually search Netflix, Amazon, etc).
NO LOVE:
So there are a few things I don't love about my Roku (and yes, I will be nitpicking) ...
I've owned the Roku for about 9 months, and it's probably crashed and reset itself about 4 or 5 times. Not a huge deal, but REALLY annoying when you are trying to watch something.
I wish the channels would load faster. Netflix is pretty zippy, but Hulu takes way too long, especially if you are going back and forth between channels deciding what to watch.
Along that line of thinking ... it would be really nice if all my favorite shows from different channels (Netflix, Hulu, etc) were available to watch straight from the Roku home screen instead of having to go to each channel and selecting the show from inside the channel app. Come on Roku people, get on this!
Using the headphones in the remote burns through batteries pretty quickly. With using the headphones for about an hour a night, I find myself having to change the batteries in the remote about once a month. And you get no warning, so I'll be watching TV with the headphones and suddenly the headphones stop working, the remote is dead, and I have no way to pause the TV ... so I have to run and get batteries, change them, and then rewind the show to wherever I was before the batteries died.
The universal search is great, but you can't do it from the Roku app on your phone or tablet. This just boggles my mind.
SUMMARY:
Roku is great. Go get a Roku because it will make you happy.
