Freedom from TV Garbage

This is my second Roku, and is much improved over the previous model. I was unable to get closed captioning on Netflix with my old one, but this one makes it quite convenient. I'm thinking about discontinuing DISH and just going with ROKU, as my favorite programs, RT and Free Speech TV are about all I watch besides movies. Since I can get them with ROKU, there is really no need for all of the worthless programming on regular TV.

The only reason we purchased the Roku was to be able to get the WWE Network. Have never tried anything else with it.

Roku is the best way to watch TV!

We are thrilled with our Roku. It's so great to "cut the cord" of high cable and satellite bills. We've never watched most of their channels. Roku allows us to choose our own channels, and we are pleased with our control over the content presented on our TV. Thanks, Roku! Our only problem is watching sports, prof. football, college football, and college basketball.

I bought mine approximately 7 months ago and it paid for itself in one day. I dropped cable a few years ago and Roku 2 removed me from the DVD world.

Great Replacement for Cable

I bought this Roku2 about 3 months ago. Initially I subscribed to Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix. These more than replaced my cable service. There are a few things I've had to get used to. One being much of the programming in these service aps duplicate the same programs. And I've now gotten used to not having the programming to certain programs I used to watch. I do miss Turner Classic, HGTV, Foodnetwork, etc. but there is so much there that I don't need it. I also do miss having some form of live streamed news network. Sometimes its good to keep in touch with the events of the world, though I don't miss local news at all. Because of the location of this device in my home I had to purchase a signal extender which helped. However, the signal still does lag sometimes, which causes a program to stop and reload. Sometimes it stops altogether and I have to wait. Other times it seems the device has drained the power of batteries in the remote. I've gone through 2 packs of batteries in 3 months, and I don't even use the headphones. If I do it takes even more batteries. I purchased this Roku2 rather than the 3 because I was told by the salesrep that you only needed the 3 to do gaming. If I had to do over I would pay the extra and get the 3, in hopes it wouldn't give me a lapse in downloading or signal strength.
