Wonderful change from cable!

We got rid of cable about two years ago and have loved it since! Having a Roku is like having a DVR (we have Hulu +), but for a FRACTION of the cost of cable. The only downside is the lack of some programming, but it's worth it in the end.

I bought a Roku 2050 three years ago and only upgraded this week in order to get YouTube. I have always been impressed with the Roku and now am excited to get more of the Internet content on the TV vs. my computer. Setup took about an hour, but that was due to my wireless network settings, not the Roku itself (had to change local IP range back to default). The box is setup now and working perfectly. I've only had it a day, but I'm sure it will more than meet my needs; I've already streamed YouTube!
The remote has many more options that my previous one (love the Netflix button). Have not yet tried the headphones, but I do appreciate having the option.
I'd also like to say thank you for the terrific shipping! I ordered my Roku 2 on Friday and received it on Monday. It was shipped (free) from California to Kentucky - excellent!

says you need a cc to set up account. not everyone has a credit card. this is a sorry set up and I would not buy this. ill stick to my wii and not need and credit cards. nice try hyping up garbage.

Had a streaming device in the living room, wanted one for the bedroom since we stopped our DirectTv service. Like it so much, just bought a second one for the living room to replace our Sony streaming DVD player. The Roku has more options (channels) available. Very easy to set up and use.

I bought mine several years ago when my cable went out and it was going to take more than a week to fix. I bought the Roku 2 XD and when I saw what it did, I cancelled cable. It has been almost 4 years and I haven't looked back even when I could get cable for free.

Overheating

I've had 2 roku 2 in the past 9 months and both work great for the first 90-120 days but after that they started overheating. I replaced the first one with a new roku 2, and about 3 days it started overheating and burned a small spot on the TV consul. I also have a roku 3 and ruku streaming stick and havn't had a problem with either of them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought one for each member of my family and we especially watch Netflix on it all the time. I also have an Apple TV which is great but now all the things that made it better than Roku are going away. Buy a Roku 2 you will be glad you did. I slso love being able to hook up my headphones to the remote so I disturb any one. Love it.
