GOODBYE EXPENSIVE MONTHLY CABLE

We bought our Roku several months ago and this has been the best purchase for great entertainment. So many choices, unlike cable viewing that shows the same movies from the last 10 - 15 years, those we've seen many times. You won't be disappointed by purchasing a Roku.

Good Selection

I've been very happy with the Roku 2 we purchased. It allows me to watch what I want to watch for the most part with limited commercials. I have been able to catch up with some television series that I thought were lost to time, as well as see some of the newer series being offered now. I was worried at first because the unit is very hot, but speaking with other users this seems to be normal. And I would really like an off switch or button.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works, but miss having a full keyboard

I've had the Roku for a few months now, hooked up to a Sony GoogleTV. It works just fine. I also have a Chromecast and a similar Sony streaming device. My review of the Roku is, well, "meh". It works just fine. I use it mostly with Hulu. What still sucks on all these devices is the lack of a full keyboard. I abhor having to pick letters on the on-screen keyboard. I wish I could continue using the SOny Google TV, because it has a full keyboard on the remote. However, Google is no longer updating the softwre, so for example, I can't download the latest Hulu app on it. My only technical complaint about the Roku is that since I can't power it down (should I be able to?) it goes of into some sort of screen saver mode, and sometimes, after a fw days, I cannot wake it, and I wind up having to unplug the power and re-power it. I am going to try out the Apple TV specifically because I believe there is an iPhone app that will let me use the phone's soft keyboard to interact with the Apple TV.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have now had this about 7 mounths and love it. A lot less money than 7 months of Cable. However more and more channels are going with a cable login which I don't have because I cut the cable. I can find a lot without the cable though. I really like the headphone jack on the remote. I don't have to string a wire across the room and my spouse don't have to listen to the tv while she reads a book.
I would like to see a different type head phone set-up. One that someone could listen to tv via the speakers and the other (hard of hearing) on the remote jack.

Works, but slow

When I bought the Roku 2, I had not realized that the Roku 3 had a much faster processor or I would have spent the extra money for it. Searching takes a long time, although once streaming it seems to work well. The YouTube interface is painfully slow. I find it much faster to connect a laptop to my AV system if i plan to do much searching on YouTube.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got a Roku 2 for my birthday. I use it daily, it's got an astounding amount of channels filled with good movies, music, and games, and coupled with PLEX, it's a media center powerhouse. I love it. I recommend it to everyone.

I bought my Roku 2, to replace my old one, I love it. The remote is great, easier to use and the headphones on the remote is very nice. Lots of great channels.
