Must have for Netflix/Amazon Prime Subscribers

Roku is all we use for TV entertainment these days. Besides connecting to Netflix and Amazon Prime, we love the Plex app. Allows us to stream content (movies, photos, etc) from computer to the TV. Also, if there is new movie we want to watch, we purchase from Amazon Prime. No need to go to Redbox.
Only downside is some content providers only provide short previews for their content, such as CBS 60 minutes.

Good programming options for Adults and Children

I purchased a ROKU 2 because it had the HDMI and Component connectors for new and older TVs. However, I did not realize and it was not told to me before I purchased the ROKU 2 that in order to get NETFLIX kids, you have to purchase the ROKU 3. But the ROKU 3 does not have the component connectors for older TVs. This is a conflict that should be revealed to all purchasers of the product.

Get this if you need support for composite video and are upgrading to HDMI because it has both. The on-remote headphones are great. The ease of use is good. The Blockbuster button needs prying off, because it is a pain if you hit it by accident. If you are all HDMI, get the Roku 3. Now that there is a YouTube channel for the Roku 2 this has all the functionality, but you will want the performance of the Roku 3 or use your Smart Phone for the searching of YouTube and the pairing for speedier use. I rarely use it for other than Netflix, Amazon Prime or YouTube, but the Special Interest Channels are plentiful and easy to add. On a 9500 dual band N Router we easily have three concurrent streamers in the house, and the video looks great on my 55" HDTV. I think streaming products built into DVD and TV should be avoided because of version update lag and that your Netflix appliance should be purpose-built because of the frequency of updates. The Roku 2 was a no-brainer value but really only the Roku 3 should be purchased if you are all HDMI. I only avoid the top box on the rating because of that, and the slower responses that I believe are due to processor speed.

My kids bought the Roku2 for me for Christmas. I have been very pleased with this device. I am not real tech savvy and the instruction book and installation directions were easy to follow. It was simple to register and link to my wireless router. It linked up seamlessly with my Amazon prime account. The remote that came with it is simple and I appreciate the ease of navigation. I would recommend the Roku2 to anyone that would like to stream video to their TV.

Nice way to watch TV. We wanted to save money on TV entertainment. It was cheaper to buy this roku 2 than it was to pay for 1 month of my satellite bill. Nice variety.
