Brother MFC-J650W

After a month of use, I am very satisfied with this multi-function printer. It replaced one from a different mfgr that died after 3 years of use. I liked the features of the Brother MFC, as well as the price. It has a smaller footprint than the unit it replaced, and I especially like the ease of replacing the ink tanks through an access door on the front of the machine. Setup was easy and flawless, including connecting to my WI-FI. I downloaded the Brother printing app in my moble devices, and like being able to print from them. Only downside is a lack of settings in the app to adjust margin settings for printing.
Overall, extremely satisfied with the purchase!

A couple of short-comings

The printer is OK, but I have an issue with it because it has a tendency to feed multiple sheets of paper when printing or copying. It can print some on one page and some on the half of the next. If the paper is stacked exactly up against the paper stop, it will feed properly.

Excellent all in one

So far I am very pleased with the Brother MFC-J650W, it was very easy to integrate into my wireless home network of devices and it doesn't cause any problems with overloading the wireless that some of the other devices I have tried. The ink seems to last for a long time and the printing and graphics are excellent, I even tried the document feeder and this works great, put all your documents in and press the start button and the machine takes care of the rest. I highly recommend this All In One.

SUPER EASY to use!!!

Very easy to set up and use. Have never set up a fax line before and this was very easy to do and walked me through the setup. I like that the automatic document feeder (ADF) flips open and closed to minimize space usage. I also particularly like the fact that this ink seems to be a bit cheaper than the rest. I get the high volume and those get you the money for your dollar. Unfortunately, cannot get the biggest size of ink cartridge, but for the amount of work I do, this LC103 is the perfect size for ink.

When printing in color, the color print is very dull.
Otherwise printer works good. There is no setting to make the color darker, more rich and vibrant.

Printer problems!

General reviews for the MFC-J650DW were good so I purchased it. Little did I know that other reviews in a different search showed this machine has severe software problems making it almost impossible to install on any computer using Windows 8! It will not install with a USB cable and only installs partially using the wireless method even though it says it will work with Windows 8.
I have spent several hours on the phone with Brother service trying to resolve this but, Brother has now pointed the finger at Microsoft blaming their software. Of course Microsoft says it is Brothers programing problem. They need to get together and resolve this problem NOW! If this problem is not fix right away I will be returning the printer and going to a different brand.

Excellent and affordable

So far, printer MFC-J650DW has been a blessing. I am a High School Math teacher and I bought it for my classroom. I use it frequently, specially when the main printer in the school is not working and/or when I need a last minute set of copies.
The feature of printing on both sides of the paper is very helpful, although the other model MFC-MJ450DW, which I bought first and I have at home, has the same feature, but is a bit slower. The MFC-J650 DW is strongly recommended.
