Brilliant Shaver but not for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received the shaver, I was a bit sceptical as previously I have not had a good experience with electric shavers. Whether it was because my hair is very thin or the shape of my face I am unsure however I have always found that a manual razor blade gives me a much closer shave.
That being said, it was 15 years ago and I was sure that shaving technology has improved since then.
When I examined the contents there was a fairly sturdy stand for the shaver, power cable obviously, the cleaning fluid and the shaver.
The cleaning fluid came in a water tight, re-sealable container which I personally thought was a good idea as the cleaning fluid is alcohol based. So if I went away for a week, I could seal it and the fluid would not evaporate. Or I could take it with me without fear of it leaking.
The fluid came in a cartridge that slotted easily into the stand for convenience.
Examining the shaver, it comes with a solid case for travelling and the build quality is excellent. It is splash proof and more than likely water proof to everything but submerging it in water so it could easily be used in the shower. It has a 4 point battery meter on the front that lights up whilst shaving and a precision option that pushes one of the foils further forward than the rest to allow you to shave your moustache without the shaver touching your lips (great idea from Braun).
Everything was easy to set up, a set of instructions came with the shaver but I did not need them as it all made logical sense.
I had to charge the shaver initially for 4 hours to ensure the battery was fully charged, I did not use the cleaning stand for this as it had not been used yet.
Once fully charged, I made sure that I had more than a 3 day stubble on my face as I have said before, my hair is thin and I do not need to shave every day.
The shave itself was very good but not perfect. Where it shaved, it was really close and to be honest, it shaved 95% of my face without a problem however there were a couple of areas that it could not get to without manipulating my face and continuously shaving over the area again and again.
It took around 40 minutes to completely shave my face and when it was done, it was a close shave. In addition, there were no rashes, burns or markings on my face at all, particularly areas where I had to re-shave which I feel I have to mention as a benefit.
Once finished, I placed the shaver within the cleaning module and it started to clean automatically. It can then be left and it will clean it all for you whilst charging the shaver ready for tomorrow. The cleaning operation itself is relatively quiet plus it will cut off power once it has charged to save battery.
My only request for change would be for the ability to charge the razor in the cradle without the cleaning cycle starting. If I am shaving with this every day, I can easily rinse the shaving head under the tap and perform a proper clean at the weekend. It seems a bit wasteful to clean the shaver every day with the cleaning fluid.
To surmise, it is a really good shaver. It keeps itself clean and sterile whilst it is not being used and it does cut really close without harming your face.
Personally however, it is not for me. What takes me 5 minutes to do with a manual razor, it took 40 minutes to do with this. I have always preferred manual razors as nothing gets closer in my opinion but if you prefer electric razors then I can strongly recommend this one.

Braun Cordless Self-Cleaning Electric Shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not always particularly good at keeping on top of shaving, so getting the Braun Series 3 Cordless Self-Cleaning Electric Shaver was probably quite a bonus for me. There's a fine line between 'designer stubble' and 'looking like a hobo'! The shaver itself is a sleek and stylish tool with three cutting foils and a precision "long-hair" trimmer. The foils move and can change angle with the contours of your face, helping you to cut closely. It comes with a little shaver-shaped carry-case and a docking station. The docking station, when you've inserted the cartridge of cleaning solution, becomes the apparatus through which the shaver cleans itself. It can be a little noisy when it does this, so it's best not to do it overnight while you (try to) sleep! But it does seem to clean it quite thoroughly, and it's nice to not have to spend ages after a shave on brushing and cleaning up. The shaver is quite good at cutting short hairs, and doesn't seem to require as many passes as other shavers I've used. However, it isn't really good at all at cutting long hairs, even with the "long hair" precision trimmer. Like other shavers I've used, the head heats up quite rapidly, but I just ran it under cold water to cool it off again. One quite funky thing it can do, however, is you can slide a little switch across which drops two of the cutting foils, so that you can get to 'hard-to-reach' places like under your nose with the remaining foil. The fact that it is a cordless rechargeable shaver means that you're not tied to a plug socket, too, which is good, as it means you have more freedom and choice in where you shave. Speaking of the plug, however, it's absolutely enormous, and wouldn't fit next to my bedside-table as it was so huge. It's massive even without the three-pin-adaptor. The plug itself is probably about half the size of the shaver!
Anyway, I was reasonably pleased with how the Braun Series 3 Electric Shaver performed. It didn't cut quite as well as I hoped it would, but it did cut quite well, and it was easy to use. There's no trailing cable because it's cordless, and it cleans itself afterwards! However, due to the fact that it didn't quite cut closely enough for my neurotic tendencies, I don't think it's going to replace my wet-shave razor, although I fully intend on keeping it handy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wont get too technical with all the features here as you can look these up on the product specification but it has a very stylish look and is equipped with a clean and renew system which not only ensures the shaver head is clean, but also charges it at the same time!
I have only used one other electric shaver, which my wife bought me and I felt I had to use (I grew up using manual razors) - in comparison to the previous model, this one definitely wins - offering a smoother, more comfortable shave.
It also looks and feels less clunky from my old model, and is much easier to clean!
If you are looking for an upgrade to your current model, this is well worth a look.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As I'm in the Armed Forces I have to be clean cut on a daily basis, meaning I have to shave at least once a day. I have used this Braun shaver for 5 days and I'm fully impressed with it. When I first received it I wasn't sure about the size of the base as it needs to be flat so it doesn't leak but once secured and charged I enjoyed the design and look including the bright blue light in the base which gives it a great look. The shaver itself I need to be able to hold a charge for a few days in case I'm at sea and so far I've only charged it once which is great. The self cleaning system is a great add on and gives it that nice clean feel when I go to shave in the mornings. Every time I've shaved Ive been happy with the finished product, a smooth clean shave with no nicks or scratches every time. I was slightly disappointed with the centre trimmer as it appears quite loose and sticks up quite a bit which when I've not very long stubble it's not needed and seems to get in the way a bit. The trimmer on the back of the shaver works great and is just the ticket for that 4 day old stubble. All in all this is a great shaver, it works for different lengths of stubble and is a must for any man, especially one on parade!. I have and will continue to recommend this shaver to my friends and family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well, can I just start out by saying I haven't owned an electric razor in many years. Previous experiences with Phillips branded product have left me a little dubious in regards to my personal results.
I get razor burn badly on my neck, so wet shaving is generally out of the question. So I was using a beard trimmer , that doesn't provide a very close shave.
The Braun however is BRILLIANT, it honestly cuts as close a wet shave and takes half the time. I did struggle with my neck but I'm putting that down to user error and will get the technique down after a few more goes.
It is stylish with the cleaning dock, it does not look out of place on my bedside table. The razor itself isn't overly light but nor is it to heavy. One grumble I do have is that I am missing the protective cap for the top. Other than that im a happy boy, it also comes with a handy travel case for any trips it may take.
All in all im happy with this product an would recommend it to a friend 9/10.

A razor that was almost the best available

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I opened the box I thought, great this will get rid of my overgrown beard, unfortunately I was in for some minor disappointment. The razor really cant handle a lot of facial hair all at once, it started to just pull hair out instead of cutting it. This was after a full charge in the large docking station - I'll come to that soon. I ended up going back to my old razor to clear most of my beard then in the interests of giving a good review went back to the series 3. I'm pleased I did as I've not had a smoother shave with an electric razor. The razor itself was easy to use and adjust for different parts of my face. Now for the docking station - it is quite large, but it needs to be for what it does! Insert the cleaning solution in the hidden compartment, dock the razor, plug it in and press a button, 5/10 minutes later the razor is clean and ready to use again. The solution so far is reusable (I'm not sure how many uses its supposed to be for) and as its alcohol based has a strong smell so use it in a well ventilated area!! My only criticism of the docking station is the inability to use a normal plug socket without an adaptor which you need to buy separately (it's a 2 prong european plug). Overall I would recommend the razor as long as its used regularly.
