Very good value!

Our old GE range was 19 years old and gave us excellent service. I don't know if this one will last that long but we are hoping. The range is excellent, especially the convection oven. Our only complaint is that the cooktop seems harder to clean than our old range due to a ridge around the edge that is difficult to clean.

After about 26 years when we could no longer set the clock, we decided it was time to purchase a new range. After researching the features and price of the available stoves, we chose this one and are glad we did . It has a larger oven with convection, making Sunday dinners for the family easier. The glass top makes cleaning and keeping the top clean much easier. Easy to operate, makes cooking fun.

Nice looking, but a pain to cook on...

We had the old coil-style electric range and upgraded to this (since glass top stoves seem to be the rage and we're looking to sell our house next year). I really can't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews.
CONS Stove top gets dirty easily (even spilling water creates spots that require a special cleaner to get up).
Glass top stoves require stainless steel cookware. Two problems with that: (1) they're not cheap, and (2) they rarely come with a non-stick coating. We find it impossible to cook and egg without it sticking. Tried cooking a crab cake the other night, but it would not stick together they way it would with a regular teflon-coated pan, and it didn't brown nearly as fast as it used to in a teflon-coated pan. Those are the too biggest headaches about a glass-top stove. In addition, the storage door in the bottom feels cheap (though not as cheap as MANY of the models we looked at). It's definitely not as sturdy as our old stove's storage door.
CONS Looks great! The oven itself heats up fine. Has a broil setting (actually, and HI and LOW broil setting) Built-in timer Light Allows for the two racks to be placed in several locations.

My old stove was old, so in comparison this is wonderful. Bake goods cook up quicker than my old stove, so for all you bakers out there, until you get used to it and adjust your baking times, keep your eye on your goodies.

Cooktop Surface Looks Good - But That's It

We were replacing an older electric stove with coils. The product finish was a big draw for us... nice color, no fingerprints. But they don't make an electric coil stove in Slate, so, we went with the smooth cooking surface. I absolutely hate it. There's poor contact with pots/pans (even if they're flat) so it takes long to heat up AND you need two hands to stir since the pot/pan may rotate as you stir (need the 2nd hand to hold it still). The electric coils, as well as gas-stove gratings, provide more friction with the bottoms of pots/pans. The oven seems to take a lot longer to heat up than our previous electric oven...almost 10 minutes to get to 350. I do like the convection features...I can cook two pizzas simultaneously and they both cook evenly. After 3 months, I'm ready to trade this in for the gas version. I would have rather run the gas line that deal with this smooth cooking surface. (Also, surface has to be cleaned all the time) I honestly cannot understand how these smooth surfaces are still in the market place. All I can guess is that there's not a lot of cooking going on out there.
