We bought this several months ago when old range stopped working. Reviews were good and the range works fine but no one reviewed how hard it is to keep the stove top clean. The black surface is horrible. It shows everything and is impossible to keep clean. I hate having to use the polish cleaner every time I cook. If I had to do again, I would have looked at different surface colors. Our old range had a grey top and was much easier to keep clean. Daily stress not worth purchase
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Noxious smell so far

This smells horrible In our first week of use. We have to open the windows every time we cook or bake anything. Please cook off the plastic burning smell before selling to consumers. Otherwise everything seems to be working fine.

This is Megan at GE Appliances. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment. The smell you are experiencing is from some of the insulation and packing material. It should burn off within the first 3 to 5 uses but this process can be accelerated by using the self-cleaning cycle. We do recommend opening windows until the smell subsides. Absolutely beautiful!

My husband just installed my new GE stove. It is gorgeous and everything works/runs perfectly. Now I am going to bake my first batch of cookies in it! Can hardly wait! :)

What a difference from the coil electric stove. The food cooks evenly on the flat top. Much easier to clean! I am delighted in the difference.
