Poor ice maker dispenser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had to replace the ice bin 2 times in the past year. The spiral that pushes the ice forward breaks. We move the ice around and clean the bin regularly as the serviceman suggested, but the same thing happens. Not happy with the plastic spiral when so many other materials are available.

Poor quality refrigerator

This refrigerator was made with very cheap plastic. We had several pieces break soon after purchasing it. Our ice maker broke and ended up with plastic mixed in the ice bin.
Now it has stopped cooling all together.
We bought all GE products for 30 years but are not confident with the quality.

Great fridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with this fridge! It has a ton of room for all your food. The lighting is wonderful and it looks great. The only thing that bothers me is the smooth outside... it shows finger prints.

Very low ice volume if that is important to you

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does not make enough ice. I have to buy ice everyweek at the grocery store. We live in the west so we use ice daily but even overnight it only fills 1/4 of the ice bin. This model does not have a filter reminder light. So you have to remember to change the water filter every 6 months. Messy in door water dispenser. Water from the door dispenser drips down the front of the frig- leaving water marks down the front and only adults use it. Lastly any liquid placed at the back of the frig freezes in its container. Looks nice!

For a GE product, this should offer better value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice looking refrigerator and average features. On closer look the paint never lost the marks made by the plastic used to protect the surface. We bought this product 8 months ago and we've noticed the paint chips easily. There are however two main reasons why we rate this on the poor end of the scale: First, the doors squeak too much and quite loudly. Second, the water/ice dispenser constantly leaks after every use, requiring constant use of a towel to dry out excess water on the bottom. Even with that constant care, we've started to notice build up (whitish staining) that is getting difficult to remove. That speaks of poor quality materials and valve performance. It was with frustration, that after a recent and prolonged power outage, the ice melting from the ice container started to drip water onto the floor. I would think that issues such as this should be prevented by basic product design. I'm sorry to say it, but GE has been making kitchen appliances for decades, unfortunately the deficiencies noticed don't reflect the quality expected.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
