I love the lumia 1020. but ……

The lumia 1020 is very good. I love to take photos by it. However , I feel some disappointed, the update of photo technology in lumia denim may not support the lumia 1020.For example, HDR. I update nokia camera to lumia camera , but not new thinks to find , maybe just bugs fix or change the name. But lumia 1520 and 930 they can not update the software , because they will add new function. I feel disappointed. Lumia 1020 maybe has a slow cpu , but it is the best photo phone now ! I hope you can add HDR or other new function on it. And I am looking forward for lumia 1030.
Pros: Personal, photo

You will carry your SLR with this phone

The phone needs some hardware upgrades like SD card support. It carries the best camera out there and I hope Microsoft release an upgraded version ASAP as there are some competitions that will take over with their innovation. I hope the upgrade comes with a sort of stylus and supports SD card. I hope it comes with a 64 bit CPU and 3 GB ram and so on. The handset is the best one on the windows ecosystem after 15 months of its release. There are newer phones released but not with the beast camera on this one and they lack some of the features of this one.

Wonderful phone/camera, but kinks to be improved

Admittedly, i love WP and the 1020. However, quick things that need to be improved with the 1030: 1) Speed to launch camera and process photos--this needs to be much faster in next iteration 2) Battery Life--certain features/apps will make this phone run dry in a short while. ie, angry birds, internet sharing, Here Maps, etc. And it is consistent in that if i run these apps, the battery will run down extremely quickly. 3) Apps owned by MSFT still need work with a focus on Skype. 4) Change the system to change sim cards...i travel a lot and this system is cumbersome 5) add SD card storage 6) Don't ditch the ability to have lanyards on these phones!

Good phone, but wishing for the next version

I've had the 1020 for a year, it's been a good phone mostly because of the camera which is amazing. It has inspired me to learn a lot about digital photography and it was a fun ride. As far as not recommending the phone, I think its because I don't find this phone very compelling outside of the camera. There's a lot of good things. The battery life is great, I think the Windows live tile system is really nice, I love how you can glance at the screen and get all the info you need. The hardware camera button is also a great touch. Unfortunately, there's a few show stoppers that make it difficult to keep this phone (some hardware and software reasons). Probably the number one thing is the lack of ability to download or forward email attachments outside of pictures or office files. See, I got a windows phone mostly for business reasons as I spend a lot of time on a windows laptop and in MS Office. So I thought a windows phone would be a great accessory work device. So imagine my disappointment when I can't save or forward proprietary work file extensions like .zip or CAD files to collaborate with coworkers. The other important use of my phone is using GPS on business trips. Here Drive is okay, the interface is a little awkward having to go through multiple screens to select things. But unfortunately, after the latest round of updates, Drive keeps freezing on me in the middle of a trip. Even after reinstalls, it keeps freezing, often at misopportune times where I have to restart the app while driving to prevent from getting lost. The final straw is the lack of an active stylus option for windows phone. Coming from a Samsung Note, I've been spoiled with being able to jot/draw/diagram things. When OneNote for Android came out with the ability to ink, I've resurrected my Note and I find inking a joy to use. It's even made me stop using a windows tablet (that has an active pen).
Nowadays I carry both the Note and the 1020. The 1020 stays around solely because of the camera, but unfortunately the Note is winning out as my go-to device because of the email, inkable OneNote and reliable GPS.
What I'm really hoping for is a 1020 update with an active stylus and a inkable version of WP OneNote.

This was the best phone I had. Photos are importing to me, and with it I dont need to go out without my DSR and be afraid to lose something. Its fast, the battery is great I can go out with GPS and 4G on all day.
