Love the phone but ready for an update

Got the phone, launch day 2013. I absolutely loved the AMOLED screen and of course that sensor/lens combo. I was concerned about the hump before purchase but got over it quickly. The hump itself and the phone are actually rather reasonably sized. Alas, mid 2014, I started getting the itch and upgraded to the 1520. After getting my hands on this 6" screen, I have had a hard time going back to the 1020. That being said, I still take the 1020 with me on vacations as a backup phone and my primary camera. People try to say that the 1520 camera is a respectable replacement for the 1020, but I think it doesn't get close.
Review your images on a high resolution screen and its easy to see that the 1020 is still on top when it comes to photo quality. This is especially true for low light conditions.
So, loved the phone but moved on. Would I get it again? Absolutely. Once you have a sensor like that as part of your collection, you wont ever want to let it go.
Please oh please tell me that the update #1030?# is going to have a larger, AMOLED screen. If so, I am right back on board.

Amazing camera, great battery life, and beatiful OS!

You can't beat the amazing camera built into this phone that comes along with great accessories. If I plan on going site seeing I can quickly snap on my camera grip to not only more comfortably take great pictures, but also extend the battery life!
On top of that I always have my wireless charging case on to allow me to just toss it on any of my wireless chargers either at home or work and I never worry about my battery dying!
The only downside to this phone is waiting to see what the next iteration of it will bring! I will definitely be getting the next one to replace this one!

Good hardware, great camera, but...

Bluntly put, no phone on the market beats Lumia 1020's camera. There simply isn't. It also can withstand half a day of heavy use on a LTE network with poor reception, which is really something. On top of that, its interface is really fluid, owing nothing to current models, even though it runs on a 2-year-old Qualcomm processor. The bad of this phone, also bluntly put, is Microsoft's lack of seriousness. It has few good apps and there's no actual incentive for developers. MS own apps are poor also, with a special mention to Office Mobile, and there is simply no HID support, MTP or USB Host, though there is hardware support. Even a mediocre Android phone has those. I really like this phone and don't want to upgrade to a worse camera, but MS needs to get their game straight.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is the perfect example of what can be done when designers and engineers push the boundaries. The amazing camera module on this phone has helped me take the best photos I've ever taken, and because of the sheer size of the hi-res images, blowing them up to large 16x20 size canvas prints is extremely satisfying. The speed of the device can be slow, especially shot-to-shot, but overall it is an exceptionally awesome device. I love my 1020! :^)

Let's face it. We buy the 1020 for the camera! It has replaced my DSLR for most uses. The phone itself is only so-so, but the camera makes up for the lack luster specs.

Please Microsoft stop thinking that US is the whole world. LATAM and other countries consume way much your products. Even tough surpassing other brands and competitors out of the market.

Got Kids, never miss lifes moments again!

This is a killer phone. The ease of use of the OS. The butter that is live tiles.. Didn't think so much could be packed into a small package. Then there is the camera 41MP of this-is-all-worth-it. I have 2 small kids who do things worth remembering all the time and with the manual controls on this beast i can be sure to fire off that shutter faster than even they can move and therefore never missing a great shot ever again. Hands down with the greatness that is Windows 8 and that beast of a camera this is the phone to have. Microsoft You Win!

Camera is way too slow

Shot-to-shot time is over 3 seconds. Yes it has very high resolution, but that probably is all. White balance is a hit and miss. Focusing takes for ever.
The OS lacks key functionality and key apps. I cannot even finish this review on it.
Pros: Personal
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
