Follows the tradition of legendary E90 Communicator, N8, and now NOKIA Lumia! 41mp camera is amazing, puts digital cameras to shame - you have a winner, don't mess it up Microsoft!!

Retire your DSLR!

When it was time for me to upgrade my Smartphone, I checked around and saw that the 1020 had a 41 megapixel camera with a Zeiss lens and a Xenon strobe. Since I am an amateur photographer and have stayed with Nikons for the last 40 years, it was time to eliminate the neck strain from carrying those heavy cameras all day long! The availability of a wide selection of "lenses" is also a big plus. The ease of making panoramic shots and being able to adjust all needed variables on-screen is a real time-saver! Aside from the camera, I fell in love with Live Tiles! Now I can see all my activity in one place and in real time! Another plus is the compatibility with all my Windows apps and the availability of apps from Microsoft, AT&T, Nokia and others gives me a wide selection. I now have over 100 apps installed and although I am retired, I can't seem to find the time to use them all! On top of this, along came Cortana! This is getting so close to a Star Trek onboard computer that it is a bit scary!! My only regret is that the battery is not removable. With my previous Samsung Focus, I had three spare batteries that I would keep fully charged and was able to swap them in ten seconds, at most. I have compensated by adding an external, high capacity battery pack. I would also like to see an auxiliary connector for future expansion. I'm sure that there will be many new add-ons in the future, such as medical devices. It might be possible to utilize either the power connector or the headphone jack for that purpose!

Everything you need in one slick device

Having gone through a myriad of devices I was always looking for the perfect device so I would get a new one often because over time I would get bored with a particular device.
My 1st Windows Phone was a Nokia 920 and truth be told, it was unquestionably the best device I had ever had. The Windows Phone OS provided me with a seamless transition between what I did on my PC to my device and back again. MS Office, Social Media and the ability to use OneDrive was a driving force for me to get that phone. I loved it! That is until I saw and experienced the Nokia Lumia 1020. It has the same features as my previous device however the camera is extraordinary! The camera is so good that I never carry my camera anymore when I leave and when I need a camera for that special shot, I always have it with me. Make no mistake, all devices have cameras but none of them can do what the 1020 does.
I'm incredibly happy with this device and am pleased I made the decision to upgrade. In fact I am pleased I switched to Windows Phone. The ability to seamlessly transition between my PC, tablet and device has made a huge difference in my overall experience.

Solid Construction along with the best phone camera on the market make this phone a total gem. I would put my phone up against anything on the market and still choose it. The Windows operating system has come a long way and continues to shine. If you haven't tried a Windows phone, you don't know what you are missing.

Of course the strongest point is the camera. But all other features are very good.

In general the OS has lots of good features and for phone calls is arguably the best. One main problem is the placement of the volumemail button to easy to be activated when trying to turn on the screen. Also, the weight and thickness should be reduced butte the camera should be continued.

Be an explorer and discoverer

I like to explore. I like to travel and discover new things. I am also an engineer. That's why I went for the Nokia 1020 and Windows. I have had the iPhone, and at one time it was exciting and fresh. Now it's sameness. I had Android for years too. Good phones and apps with more discovery through customization. But Nokia and the Windows system have intrigued me for a while, and I jumped at the chance to get the Nokia 1020 on sale. I am more than happy with my decision. The phone is wonderful, nicely designed and built. Great camera. It's sometimes the things I discover that please me the most. The features that you may not see in a review. Cortana is so solid and feature rich. Mail, calendar, and texts are tightly integrated. Apps are more than sufficient. Remember, if there is not an app, just go to the mobile site of what you need. Works just fine. I switched from Android easily. I find this phone and system has elegance and adventure, both of which I am enjoying. Ditch sameness and explore.
