Good camera but no effort but forth for apps

This phone is an ok phone camera is great, but one of the major downsides is the lack of applications in the windows store. There is an official instagram but it is still in beta and there ins't even a snapchat. Another major downside is the video decoding on this phone. It is horrible, if I receive a video I can't even see whats going on because of the pixels on the screen and if you try to send a video it comes out choppy and another phone as well. Also this phone has overheating problems which causes it to freeze quite often if you have a case on the phone. I would only recommend this phone to those who do not want a social life and love to talk pictures.
Pros: Personal

Don't buy this phone. It's awful frustrating, good for nothing and a terrible device. Window mobile is USELESS! I switched to windows for compatibility with my windows work environment. Incompatible!! Switching back to Android on another device. The calendar is stupid, I can't change it to ring more than twice before it goes to vm so I miss most of my calls! Worthless.

Not so great

Instead of upgrading to the iPhone 5s, I switched to the Lumia 1020 mainly for the camera. The camera is great. That's about the only thing I like. The apps are not as good as the iPhone or my Android tablet. Cortana was easier to use before the upgrade to 8.1. Now I have to go into the app to use her and she does not work like in the commercials. My battery life is less than it was with the iPhone. Ending a call is not always easy. Most of the time it goes back to the main screen and you have to go back in to the phone app to end the call. Overall, I regret getting this phone.

Horrible product

This is hands down the worst smartphone I have ever had, the only way that it could be considered an upgrade is if you're switching from a blackberry. The camera says that it is 42 megapixels' but is horrible too.

Mediocre camera - clunky phone
on January 1, 2016

I am a photographer & bought this especially for the camera function When delivered , the camera didnt work At all. After replacement I am less than impressed. The sensor is fine (but dont expect its performance is even close to a P&S , let alone DSLR quality). The len though is utter rubbish - so much flare near any light source Battery life is poor , the phone overheats & often freezes up. No SD card is silly Some aspects I find annoying - having a phone turn on when charging is not a feature MS - its annoying The screen glass quality is mediocre - the software is a bit clunky but I do prefer the tiles It is annoyingly easy to turn the phone on - the "on" switch is too exposed I really wonder how a phone like this got through the testing process

CAMERA FACTORY DEFECT INTERNALLY ON LENS
on October 15, 2013

I am an photographer who bought a phone with an amazing low light 41 mp camera attached. Its not a DSLR or sub compact, but it keeps my devices down to a minimal.
Problem: There is an internal defect on the lens, that shows up as a bright "hot" spot on all my pics. This is very noticeable under low light and bright light conditions. This is not dust or lens flare and there are no scratches on the exterior of the lens.
Unfortunately the phone was purchased on the 26th of September, and my carrier will only replace with a refurbished model. I can send to Nokia, according to the call center, and the phone will be inspected and repaired or replaced. I highly doubt a tech will notice the spot on the lens and replace my phone.
I guess its a gamble... I get a refurb from ATT and consider the new phone price the cost of the warranty, or I send to Nokia in hope that the tech sees's the defect.
Understandably It was a mistake on my part, should have stayed with android and purchased a two thirds compact camera
I hope I am only one, and not many with this lens problem as you will HATE this phone, as defect makes your pictures useless.

Windows 8!!!

This would be the best phone on the market if it didn't have Windows on it! Possibly the worst operating system ever used on a phone. Gone are the days of personalizing and apps. If only you could choose your own system!
Pros: Business
I would recommend this to a friend!
