Amazing camera, modern and efficient OS, distinctive design, top build quality and materials

A fully featured smartphone, with the best camera ever put on a phone. I love the speed and fluidity of the OS, even on an one and a half years old device like the 1020 (running the latest version 8.1 Update 1).
Strongly recommended to anyone who wants to have the best camera always available in their pocket, together with a very capable smartphone. The accessories are lovely too. I use the Camera Grip for long shooting sessions, and for taking long exposure pictures together with a tripod.
I love the phone's design, materials and color too (I have a yellow one). It is so distinctive and premium looking.
My only complain is about the battery life, but after all, I use it a lot.
Message to Microsoft: Please, don't stop producing smartphones with amazing cameras like Nokia was doing for years. We are anticipating even better cameras in the future. And no, the humps don't bother us, the users of 1020. We love them.

Great camera...

Nice phone, great camera...that's about all I can say. With the amount of apps being removed from an already short selection your choices are slim to none. So, what are you left with? A nice phone and a great camera.

Going Back to iPhone
on February 12, 2016

I bought this phone to try as an alternate to the iPhone. Within the first two months, the screen cracked and the replacement cost was more than the purchase price on the phone! My wireless carrier replaced the phone for me and now 18 months into phone #2, the power supply connection is failing and will not charge properly unless I place it at an incline and babysit it. The apps are underdeveloped when compared to ios and android systems and the maps is absolutely terrible and unreliable. It has given me incorrect directions multiple times and I no longer trust on it. This phone is a disappointment when compared to the late 90's Nokia 5100 series phones. Going back to an iPhone.

Awful phone. Seems like a beta given the issues

Mail: frequently (2x a week) the sync button does nothing.
Mail: often (3x a week) the mail buttons open a "working on it" message then close
Charging: often (3x a week) plugging in the phone does not let it charge.
The remedy to these issues is a power off/on so this shows the O/S is not ready for prime time and has issues with garbage collection or memory leak.
I've reserved a new iPhone 6s and will be moving to it later this month.

Horribly disappointed. The charging ports are the worst I have ever used.

I have had 3 Nokia lumia's. My first was a 720, awesome phone. My second was the icon, horrible charging issue's, and has stopped charging all together. I now have a 1020, and it's my second 1020. My first one shut down by itself and never would come back on after the Cortana update. Warranty replaced it and like the icon, now I have charging issues. Won't charge like it should and now won't come back on. If you as a company, refuse to help fix this problem I will let everyone know. By the way, I own my own business, and always address customer issues promptly and I expect the same courtesy. :-(

Wouldn't buy anything but windows

Not happy with microphone or that mechanism. I started with a 920 and received 2 under warranty. Was then upgraded to the 1020 which was also replaced 2 times. It was frustrating when at&t refused to replace anymore and I had to go directly to Nokia. Wasn't happy about the upgrade either. The 1020 is thicker and heavier then the 920.

Poor design, planned obsolescence
on April 23, 2015

Purchased this product and immediately experienced headphone jack problems. The device will only play through one speaker, no matter what cords or sound system it is hooked up to. Battery life quickly becomes a problem-- it barely holds a charge for a whole day, after only owning it for a year. Planned obsolescence is obviously incorporated into the design. I recently submitted to the updates, and they have been *very* poorly incorporated into the product. The "up"date has made it much more difficult to 1. Edit your texts (you can't see where the cursor is placed), 2. You can't click on links from your facebook page without opening a new tab 3. The main GPS application has been modified so that you can't view route descriptions and a map simultaneously, and the directions provided do not take you the fastest route. Overall, I was fairly satisfied with this product from the start, despite the headphone jack problems and the poor battery life. However, the programming updates have made this device beyond annoying.
Pros: Personal, Business, college
