Terrible reliablity

It's fine when it works, but save yourself the money and buy a better adapter and save yourself the headache.
Every now and again, the connection suddenly disappears. The last time this happened was during a DOTA match and my teammates were not amused. This has occurred more than a couple of times in a week and I will be getting a replacement ASAP.

What's written in the "Overview" section is wrong.

Within the Overview section it says 150 MB/s, and 433 MB/s between the 2.4ghz band and 5ghz band respectively. This is wrong and differs from the actual product labelling and specs, there is a key difference between MB/s and Mbps or Mbitsps, MegaBytes, and Megabits. 8 Megabits = 1 Megabyte, Meaning this product is actually 18MB/s and 54MB/s relative to their bands. The product works perfectly as intended, just be aware of the inaccuracy in the Overview section. Good performance, but at first glance, it seems way better than it is.

Got one of these and tried it on a new Windows 10 computer. Windows thought it was a USB flash drive and never allowed it to connect to the internet no matter what I did with the drivers and hardware scans. Pulled it out and it was scaling hot, overheating, possibly a fire hazard. Tried it on another computer and instead of the flash drive issue, windows kept beeping like it was being removed and re-inserted, unable to figure out what this Dlink product even was.
Doesnt work, throw it in the trash (okay, or return it)

I have used many different WiFi adapters and strongly recommend not getting this. It gets the job done for web browsing but is terrible for any type of streaming. For the money, there are many better options.

Very unreliable - avoid

It often drops out, so we think there's no internet connection, yet laptops and mobile phones next to this PC have no issues. It's this device, not our internet, that's causing the issues. We're very disappointed. I wouldn't go with this product or brand again.

Hard to setup, dead after two days.

Bought this as a backup to my older DWA-130 on a Linux desktop, which was working for years. Had some problems so attempted to switch to DWA-171. Had to spend an hour looking for a driver for it as it was not supported automatically. Following directions from website I built and installed the driver, but after each reboot it first detected as a drive and had to be ejected before it would connect as a wifi adaptor. Once link was up it then started sending status updates to the system log every 0.5 seconds. "Luckily" this only lasted for TWO days, then it stopped working and is unresponsive
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed

I previously had a similar D-Link wireless adapter which worked great. So when I needed another I bought this one. However, this one never worked properly. Takes a many prompts (plugging in and out) and much time to recognize and connect to my modem. It will recognize the 5G band much sooner but won't connect to it. One it does connect though, it occasionally drop the signal and is just as painful to get it to re-connect.
