Unidirectional adapter

This device can be turned around to connect a monitor with Display Port input to a computer with HDMI output. Then it won't work. Even though it is a passive device, and the connectors work both ways, it won't adapt an HDMI output to a Display Port input.
Now this is in the specifications on this web page. However, when one pulls this adapter out of a drawer, there is no indication on the adapter that it only works in one direction. There is no INPUT and OUTPUT marked. There is no arrow to indicate a direction for the signal. So you won't know until the connection doesn't work.

We apologize for any confusion when using this adapter. Passive adapters such as the DP2HDMI2 are only able to convert a DisplayPort computer to DVI because DisplayPort signals on a computer are capable of carrying DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI. They do not work backwards because the DVI port on a computer is incapable of carrying a DisplayPort signal.
One easy way to verify if your adapter connects from DVI/HDMI on your computer to DisplayPort on your monitor is if it has extra power as DVI and HDMI do not carry enough power to convert a signal to DisplayPort. We recommend using an adapter such as our DVI2DP2 or our HD2DP to convert from DVI or HDMI to DisplayPort.

I have been using this for 2 months now. I am so impressed with the performance, quality and durability of the product. Its the best adapter I could find after all my intense research. The output I get is similar to that of an HDMI to HDMI cable.
