During the installation process the instruction manual refers you to www.Sanus.com for determining the wall plate location.. My big issue was I knew where I wanted the set located on my wall but the wall plate is not cented behind the TV mounting carriage and there is nothing in the printed form or the online form of instuctions to help you with locating the wall plate to get your TV centered in the space you want it in.The wall mount needs to be mounted above center to have the set centered where you want it. The wall plate locator will not let you input just the model # of the mount for assistance. You must input your TV info. Problem is my set does not show the model # for the mount that I am using in their dropdown for their model #'s
Pros: Close to Wall, price
Cons: poor instructions, wall plate not centered behind carriage, difficult to determin wall mount location
I would recommend this to a friend!

Large TV? Approach with caution

I have a 65" Panasonic 3D plasma that I was looking to mount in a recessed location to achieve a clean look. Because it would be recessed, I needed a mount which allowed me to slide the TV in/out to gain access to the necessary cabling. The TV weighs 105 lbs, so the choices of suitable mounts quickly thinned at the local BestBuy where I purchased the VLF311 based on the specifications (up to 65” and 120 lbs).
Once the TV was on the wall, it wouldn’t hang completely vertical and the top of the TV was pitched out. The Sanus Support team was helpful and suggested moving the bracket on the TV up/down to better align with its center of gravity. After several attempts (and a few weeks with strong friends), I was able to lessen the pitch but was never able to get the TV to hang flat. In addition, the in/out slide movement of the mount doesn’t work well at all. In speaking with the Sanus Support team, it appears that with very heavy TVs, this mount doesn’t perform as well as others. They recommended another mount with a completely different design. While that’s good information now, I’m unable to return this item due to the amount of time which has passed using the trial/error installation method. I’ve asked Sanus Support to help with a better resolution.
My conclusion, this mount would probably work fine on smaller TVs and give you a very close to the wall look. But for larger TVs, look for alternatives as the design on the VLF311 just doesn’t work as advertised.
Pros: Close to Wall
Cons: Difficult to Use, questionable design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am amazed by the VLF311. The bracket was better than I expected. I mounted a 37" TV to the bracket, and for a full mount - unbelievably, it is really a low profile bracket. Usually the full motion brackets push the TV out 3 inches, but the VLF311 keeps the TV at about 1.25" from the wall.
"The slim VLF311 mount is the only solution for a full mount bracket"
Pros: Easy to Use, Durable, Close to Wall
I would recommend this to a friend!

Researched several other makes for a close to the wall full motion unit and this one perfectly fit the bill. Most seemed not sturdy enough for a 55" tv. Bought and tried 2 other brands before deciding on the VLF311. Easy to understand instructions. Heavy but well designed unit. The tv is safe and sound on my wall.
