I've had my Kwikset Home Connect 620 Smart Lock Deadbolt with Z-Wave Technology for 3 years. One was easy to connect, but I have never been able to connect the other one to my smart things hub. I just tried the other day to see if maybe things had changed. Nope.

Got my package just before Christmas and finally installed it. Installation was straightforward and instructions clear. Keypad works, but I can’t get the lock to pair with my SmartThings hub. I have 2 other Kwikset locks that are paired with the hub, front and back door, this lock is to the garage, kind of in between. Looking for some ideas!

Hello Reid1941,
To reset the lock in order to pair it to your Z-Wave hub, you must first go through the exclusion process. Please follow your hub's instructions on how to exclude a Z-Wave device from the system. After the exclusion process is complete, the lock has been reset, allowing it to be paired successfully. Please follow the steps to pair the lock back to the hub.

I have had 4 of these locks, the first one lasted 2 years, the second and the third a year each and the last one I just got lasted 3 days. It keeps clicking and not working properly. There is always something wrong with them. It’s like they are made to not last, to just be a piece of garbage or a paperweight. Lucky for me they all have broken before the 1 year warranty expired. I have told them they are terrible and to send me a different style but nope, I got to keep putting up with the trash. It’s extremely frustrating.

Hello LJCN,
We are happy to help you fix this! Please try the following steps:
1. Open the door and lock it. Remove the lock's interior assembly, check the securely plugged cable, and tuck it back in.
2. Reattach the interior assembly and complete the manual door-handing process with a fresh set of batteries: https://www.kwikset.com/support/answers/my-smart-lock-is-giving-me-a-jam-error
3. Make sure you have programmed a User Code and test the lock.

Great lock at an affordable price point. I am glad they came out with this lock as a replacement for the 888 Smart Code. I am getting about 6 month more with this model than I was with the 888.

Hello Ixs,
We're here to help! The Home Connect 620 features Z-Wave technology that only connects to Z-Wave hubs and Security Systems. Some examples of Z-Wave compatible systems are the Samsung SmartThings, Ring Alarm, Wink, and ADT. The Kwikset app only works with the Halo and Aura locks.

If I could give this zero stars I would. This product is absolute garbage I have read and tried to reprogram it for 2 hours the only thing I can get it to do it factory reset and program the user code. But then the user code will not work and pressing the lock button will not lock it.

Hello Noo,
We're here to help! To fix this, please try recalibrating the latch with a fresh set of batteries. Here's a link the the Manual Door Handing process video: https://youtu.be/jhE5Nilog54

I put this on my Christmas wish-list and Santa obliged me with two of them. I installed the first one on my back door. Everything went well and I was up and running in about 20 minutes, But, as I fiddled around with it I was somewhat disappointed to learn that the overall functionality is average. I did not read too many of the reviews, although it was recommended in its category. It works with my smart home hub, which is a lesser known company but fits well with my idea of a smart home system. But I was disappointed to learn that I could only lock/unlock the deadbolt lock. I could not find out which code was used to manually open the door nor could I set up any lock codes through the hub. The reality is that I didn't do enough research. It's a Kwikset, so I feel secure, I just wish it had a bit more "ease of use."
I have two of these in my house, replaced a couple of Yale smart locks that were going through a set of batteries every 6 weeks. I was able to add them to my Ring alarm very easily, the 620 is on Rings list of supported devices, very happy with both performance and looks of these locks. I have no idea why this lock has such a low rating here when the two 620’s in my house have been just fine and so much better than what I had with the older version of Z-wave.
