So far a good choice for a beginner sewer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am returning to sewing after 40 years, so I consider myself a beginner. In looking for a machine I wanted a quality machine, but not too complicated, Although there are many brands to choose from, Singer was my choice for its reputation and longevity in the sewing machine market. I have only used the machine a few times since receiving it at the beginning of the month, but is proving itself easy to learn. The stitching speed is good and the stitches are even. I have not yet used the automatic needle threader (even though that was one of the features I was looking for) but I will be figuring it out soon. One downside, and it's like that with most things we buy these days - there is NO manual included with the machine. Yes, they are all online, but I don't want to have to go online every time I have a question, nor do I want to print off all the applicable pages. I did order a manual through a website (not Singer), but shouldn't have to pay for it after buying the machine. Other than that I am so far satisfied with my purchase and look forward to learning more about the Singer HD5523.

Easy to get started

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hadn't touched a sewing machine in over 20 years and remembered nothing. After purchasing thread, I was able to thread the bobbin, thread the needle, start my first stitches, playing around on paper and then fabric, and even learn to clear a jam—all in under 2 hours. I have so much to learn but this machine got me motivated. Many of the features, like speed and stitches, are intuitive. Love the carry handle on top. It's an attractive machine!

Will be a great first sewing machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So happy with this sewing machine. It’s a huge and much needed upgrade to my decade-old machine. This has a vintage look which is cute and nostalgic. I don’t do complicated sewing, I’m more of a basic user, and this machine is perfect. It has 23 built-in stitch options in case I want to do some intricate projects. The speed control slider is very handy for straight hemming.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfect for Beginners

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Such a great machine. It's bulky as advertised, so expect it to be a bit heavy. But I love the built in threader, once you get it you're never going back. It's also very quiet compared to my older Singer machine. There's different stitch settings to adjust the thread. It's easy for beginners and sewing lovers like me.

Above and beyond your grandmas machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited when I received my Singer sew machine. It is beautiful and so much nicer then the one I have been using for the last few years.
First off, It has a handle and is so lightweight. The full body is metal not cheap plastic. The features are easy to use and the instructions are very detailed if you get stuck trying to navigate your sewing project. I’m excited to get started on my sewing pile. I know this sewing machine will last to be passed on to my daughter.

A perfect upgrade from your old dusty machine

I have some sewing experience, but had come to dread my clunky old sewing machine that was missing parts. Then, this beauty walked in. The machine doesn’t feel cheap like some other newer machines do, which was one of my fears in abandoning my ancient machine. It’s simple to set up, wind the bobbin, and thread the machine. The design is sleek, simple, and clearly labeled. Got right back on the horse making this cute scrunchie, just in time for Halloween! I’m so excited to see where this machine allows me to go in my sewing journey!!
