Do not buy

Product has an exceedingly short lifespan as I purchased it in September of 2022 and the hard drive has started to show obvious signs of wear at half the age I was expecting to get out of it; including high temperatures, poor performance (including stutters and freezing), and a plethora of loud noises coming from the drive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent product but does not come with the ability to password the drive like my other WD external drives do. Wanted to set it up as I have the other 2 drives to not show in Windows Explorer until the drive is unlocked and then password is entered. Returned the product.

It ends up working fine, so far no problems. Portable, the fan is silent. I'd argue it's a pretty good choice if you're looking for an external. I almost ended up going to another company but heard WD was better, more well made and goes the extra mile. This is true to my knowledge and I hope to buy more products from the company soon, if it applies
