Noisy, hot and poor battery life

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Look and feels great, but the laptop has a few major problems (gonna return it):
Gets VERY hot under medium workloads. It'll warm up your lap so fast you'll want to stop working.
Fan gets very loud due to the heat. Noisy and unpleasant.
Battery life is poor -- lasts just a few hours under medium workloads.
I don't recommend it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, We're genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered with the ThinkBook P14s Gen 6. This is definitely not the experience we strive to deliver, and we completely understand how upsetting this situation must be. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the battery issues. 1. Check Power Settings: Ensure your power plan is not set to "High-Performance Mode," which can consume more battery. Go to Power Options in Windows settings to adjust this. 2. Lower Screen Brightness: Reduce the screen brightness to conserve power. You can adjust this in Windows settings or using function keys on your keyboard. 3. Close Unnecessary Programs: Too many applications running simultaneously can drain the battery. Close any programs you are not actively using, especially resource-intensive ones. 4. Update System Drivers and OS: Outdated drivers and operating system versions can sometimes cause battery drain issues. Ensure your drivers and Windows are up to date. 5. Check Battery Health: Use Lenovo Vantage or Windows Battery settings to check the battery's health, capacity, and cycle count. 6. Disable Wake Timers: Ensure your laptop is not waking up for scheduled tasks or updates unnecessarily, which can drain the battery. 7. Check for Battery-Draining Peripherals: Disconnect any external devices that might be drawing power, even when the laptop is in sleep mode. 8. Hard Shutdown: Try a hard shutdown of the laptop to ensure a complete power cycle. This can sometimes resolve issues where the laptop isn't fully powering off. 9. Battery Reset: If the issue persists, consider performing a battery reset by disconnecting power, removing the battery (if removable), and holding the power button for 30 seconds. If the issue persists after following these steps, we recommend reaching out to our tech support team at 1-855-253-6686. We're committed to ensuring your satisfaction and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter. Regards, Thomas, Lenovo
