(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) My favorite laptop of all time. Excellent build quality. Very light for a 16 inch laptop. Works with Linux Mint with no issues. Suspends properly without fans staying on. Only minor issue is the USB C port don't seem to work with portable USB C monitors. It must be converted to HDMI.

Great for data science, pay attention to TGP

Before I start with the review, some advice. If you're shopping for a laptop with a GPU, always look for the TGP value. Many potential competitors at this weight class only offer 35 W TGP, but this one offers 60W with (80W with dynamic boost). An RTX 4060 with 60W TGP may perform better than an RTX 4070 with 35W TGP, so you really need to do your research on this.
Firstly, Just from the construction materials and design, I can tell this model got a lot of love. It's small for a workstation, but extremely sturdy and has an even more premium feel than my previous three thinkpads. Also, this is likely the best model for data scientists because most workstations only offer professional graphics cards with expensive drivers, but for data science, CUDA is all you need, which is available for consumer cards. A good data science workstation is basically a workstation with a consumer grade GPU. I wish Thinkpads had more options like this.
This laptop is also great if you need decent performance without excessive heft. The P16 model has gotten significantly heavier than my old P53 which I would consider to be my limit of weight tolerance. I think anywhere in the range of 4-5 pounds with a TGP of 60-90 W is a good sweet spot. I might even suggest that Lenovo makes a heavier P-model (the P2?) that's about 5 pounds and 90 W (halfway between the P1 and the P16) in order to compete with the Dell Precision 5690 but offer the option of consumer graphics cards. If the dell offered a consumer graphics model at a good price, I may have very well went with that instead.
I'm surprised to find that the landscape of "data science workstation" machines is still so underserved with respect to value. However, I found the P1 Gen 7 (with the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU) to be the best value for the money at the time of writing.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The laptop is absolutely perfect in every way, nice screen, all-day battery, ultra fast performance, reliable, solid build, GREAT keyboard.
Only 1 issue... I wish they kept the original trackpad instead of the hepatic trackpad.

My Take on the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7: A Technological Gem!
Hey everyone! Today, I want to share my experience with the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7, a laptop that truly caught my eye. If you're looking for a powerful, stylish, and reliable laptop, you might have just found your match.
Design and Ergonomics
Let's start with the design. This ThinkPad is not only stylish, but it's also built to last. With its aluminum chassis, it exudes an impression of robustness while remaining lightweight. The rounded edges and refined finishes add a touch of sophistication. Plus, the backlit keyboard is a real bonus for those who like to work late at night.
Exceptional Performance
Moving on to performance, which is simply impressive. Equipped with 11th generation Intel Core processors and an NVIDIA RTX graphics card, the P1 Gen 7 is made for the most demanding tasks. I tested it with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, and it never faltered. The speed and responsiveness are there!
Impressive Battery Life
Another aspect I really appreciated is the battery life. The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 can accompany you all day long without worry. It's perfect for those who are often on the go! And if you're in a hurry, the fast charging allows you to quickly regain power.
Conclusion
In summary, the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 is a laptop that ticks all the boxes for professionals seeking performance, style, and reliability. Whether you're a content creator, a student, or a professional on the move, this device is for you. If you're looking for an investment that will last, look no further!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Overall after using the ThinkPad for 3 weeks I'm satisfied with the purchase. Only thing I don't like is using the top part of the screen to open the thinkpad, it should be using a design similar to MacBooks. With current design the ThinkPad base always lifts up and then hits the desk.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) First ThinkPad, I quite love it. The machine has performed well so far and I appreciate the relatively bloat-free OS that Lenovo gives you out of the box. I also enjoy the new keyboard layout (conventional ctrl and fn) and the haptic touchpad has worked flawlessly so far. Still, i wish the keystrokes are a bit more silent for people who work in library often. The screen is nice, bright, and the high refresh rate is a nice quality of life feature for this. Thermals has been okay, though fans are still audible even when only youtube is playing. I got the 4060, small blender scenes has been acceptable so far, though the card it seems to struggle even with lightweight games (Far: Changing tides) so I was a little disappointed by it. Finally, the machine feels well made overall. I am a long time XPS user and was not disappointed with this P1G7. The keyboard deck feels solid with minimal flex, and the speakers are quite nice. One small thing that I am not much a fan of is how much fingerprint are visible on the palmrest and outer shell, and the material of the outer shell feels plasticky and flexes more than i expected.
