[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop replaced the Gen 5 version that I was not entirely happy with. Everything is better, including the display and keyboard. Like the new aluminum top cover. First time this has changed since forever. Also being able to insert a SD card fully into the side is so much better. Fwiw, this is approximately my 20th ThinkPad going back to the original 700C.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop itself is very nice; I had it now for about a month, and I have not used it enough to say is what I expected or not. It runs fast; my architecture programs run smoothly.
As it is a very expensive laptop, I kind of expected a super luxury finish (I had a MacBook Pro before). It is true that the design is minimalist, but for me it feels like plastic, and it isnt that solid (the screen is sort of flexible)
The display itself is good; the only con is that when using it in darkness and with black images in the screen, soft light lights are visible in the bottom of the screen (like the source of the screen light or something)
These are details. The laptop is beautiful, and if it runs perfectly, I just kind of expected a bit more perfection.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Thinkpad P1 Gen 7. Battery life is good and I have touch screen which is what I really wanted. My only not really complaint, but disappointment is I got the highest oled resolution, but it's not as vibrant as I thought it would or should be. I was also a little weary about the processor, but have found it to be fast and highly productive. Perhaps the touch screen plays a part in the brightness, I am not sure. The P1 Gen 7 can handle a lot of windows being opened as well as more than two large programs being open at one time, I am still learning new things to experiment with, so maybe in a month I can return and talk about those. All in all I have very pleased with my purchase and plan on enjoying it for many years to come.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ThinkPad P1 Gen7 is the best laptop I have owned, to-date. This laptop will replace my workhorse ThinkPad T430 (Intel Core i7 vPro 2.9GHz, upgraded to 16GB RAM, 1600x900 display, upgrade to 1TB SATA, Windows 10, TPM 1.2, and not Windows 11/12 upgradeable) which I purchased in 2012 to work on my doctorate. My new P1 G7 has an Intel Core i9 vPro 3.2 GHz, 64GB RAM and 4TB SATA, 4K touchscreen display, runs Windows 11, and it is FAST!! The only major thing to get use to with the P1 G7 is the keyboard geometry, left and right mouse button activators, and Lenovo swapped the locations of the the "Ctrl" an "Fn" keys which is just plain annoying but I will get use to it. The P1 G7 generates a lot of heat in standby mode and I have to shut it down before I put it in my laptop bag. Also with a 4K display, all my other secondary displays (fixed and portables) are 1920 x1080 and it is annoying to keep reducing the application object dimensions to go from the 4K to 1K displays, so I will have to get those updates to 4K soon when the prices drop.
Other than that, I hope to get more than 12 years use out of this laptop like I did with my T430. I would still be using today my T430 today if I could somehow get a TPM upgrade so that I could install and run Windows 11. I love that the P1 G7 is much thinner than the now fat T430.

I had a high end HP Zbook in the past. I will be using Lenovo ThinkPads going forward. One of the biggest differences is there is less Bloatware.

So far the performance is great, the speed and the memory management has been stellar. I trust the Lenovo brand. My only con would be the cost. Other than that, its been perfect for me.
