Too soon to say how long it will last, but so far it is working perfectly. My previous C&M salt mill stopped working after about 4 years (it had a plastic grinder which seemed to wear out). This new model has a ceramic mechanism, so hopefully will last much longer.

I’ve kept using my “Sam’s Club†pepper mill and salt shaker until the pepper mill finally broke. On a whim I bought the Cole and Mason Derwent set 😳 and I am completely blown away. I’m mad that I didn’t treat myself to these beauties years ago. The pepper grinder grinds A LOT of pepper fast..real fast..and even better is that it’s a uniform grind. Geez o peet. Don’t be me. Treat yourself to the best you are worth it. 😌

I purchased as a gift for my sister. I have the Derwent Salt & Pepper Mill Gift set and love them. She hasn't opened it yet , but I know she will love them too.

The mechanism is solid. The grind sizes are great and it produces a lot of pepper in a short time. It has even fallen on a tile floor without a scratch. I purchased this after Cole & Mason was mentioned on the Buy It For Life subreddit. I am replacing a Peugeot pepper mill. The Cole & Mason mill works way better and feels to be a better quality too. Oh! And unlike the Peugeot mill, this one doesn't change the grind size as you use it!

Brand reputation alone is worth consideration because I was not disappointed. Besides being attractive, the mechanism works perfectly as you make the selection from different cuts. Really worth the price!
