First impressions: oven is great. I need to learn the oven with more usage. Thermal gun said stone was 600f front, 700f back. Crust burned/toasted before raw egg was cooked. I’ll try diff techniques and better rotations. 20-30min pre heating. I make uber thin neo pizza crusts. I pre cook crust maybe 30sec , then remove to add toppings as this help get a loaded pizza off the peel easier for me.
After using the original design which would easily burn the crust closest to the burners unless you were constantly turning the pie, the new burner orientation solved that issue. Flame easily controlled, and a half turn to finish the pie in about 2 to 3 minutes. Major difference in the two designs. Only issue was the "included" battery was not.
Bought the Koda 2 as an upgrade to my Fyra 12 bought back in 2020. The Fyra has delivered countless amazing pizzas, but it was time to upgrade and go gas.
Now I have excellent and instant flame control to mange the cook, and keep things in check.
Would highly recommend the Koda 2 to anyone looking to invest in a great pizza oven, that can also cook meat, veg and fish.
I really like the way it cooks the pizza, giving it that "pizza parlor" golden crust and the short cook time with such a hot oven. I managed to get over the learning curve without much effort. That accounts for the several videos I watched before I even purchased the over. (I do wish I had bought the natural gas though, for more convenience). Care for the oven seems simple enough. I would suggest a good wire brush, such as the one Ooni offers to keep the oven stone clean.
Amazing oven just don’t turn it up really high when you’re making your pizzas cause they can burn but overall it’s a great oven now that I know how to use it properly. I just turned the heat down a little bit around 600.
I expected it would take time to learn the ins and outs of the oven but my first attempt was better than anticipated. Maybe it was thanks to all the videos I watched. I then got an infrared thermometer, which I think is 100% necessary when outside temps where I live vary so much. 20 minutes of preheating can be fine some days but double is necessary on other days. I am very happy with the purchase.
