I wanted to treat myself to some grilled salmon for my Thanksgiving meal alone, but the Match Light wouldn't start no matter what I did. I've seen your other responses, so don't bother telling me about the pyramid etc. I saw nothing here or on the bag that suggested that Match Light is useless in cold weather. Even in the summer, I was having trouble getting them to light. Maybe you should use more built-in lighter fluid when you make them so it doesn't evaporate even when using a fresh, properly stored, new bag. Very disappointed.

Hi, Violet. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We’re sorry to hear that you had trouble getting your Kingsford Match Light Charcoal to light on Thanksgiving. The most common reasons for slow lighting, include lack of oxygen (make sure that you put the briquettes in a pyramid to assist with air circulation and make sure that all of the grill’s air vents are completely open during lighting). Also, windy or damp weather conditions can make it challenging for the charcoal to light, as well as the briquettes or the charcoal bag being damp. Lastly, waiting too long after placing the briquettes on the grill will cause the lighter fluid on the briquettes to evaporate. Please give us a call at 800-232-4745, so we can further assist you with this. Be sure to provide reference number: 171129-000106 for swift service. We look forward to your call.
I always used Match Light and loved how easy it was. Something has changed drastically. I have bought three different bags from three different stores and none of them would light. they were all bought to be used immediately. It's frustrating because it's not like you can bring it back to the store to get your wasted money back. I will not be wasting my money on this product any longer

I bought a new bag of Matchlight, and it wouldn't light. I ran out and bought a second bag, and it wouldn't light. What happened? They were new bags without rips or tears.

Spoiled my evening and events often enough. The bag even sucks and followed directions with dry bag. I prob won't buy again. Use lighter fluid and this leaves a chemical taste.

I bought a 11.6 lb of Match Light charcoal late July. I have bareIy used half of the 11.6 lb Match light charcoal. I got ready to light up my grill today Match Light would not light up. My food I had prepared for the grill had to be cooked in the oven. I tried holding a grill lighter over the pyramid of charcoal as directed on the package. Match Light would not light light after holding the grill lighter for a full two minutes. I did not have any lighter fluid I thought I was paying the price not to buy the lighter fluid. there should be a expiration date or warning that product may not work after a short period of time.

We just bought 2 bags. We had used part of the one and was working fine. Now today just 1 day later it refuses to light. It wasn't left out in the open. We tried the other bag and it also won't light. We have used this for years. I guess it's like everything else Cheaper made to save money
