Ruined my food

I bought my first bag of match light briquettes, went camping for the weekend and every time I bbq’d I couldn’t get the taste out of my food.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed

I recently purchased a new grill and when I did bought a bag of your Matchlight charcoal. The 1st night we go to use the grill I spent almost an hour trying to get the charcoal to light. I even place paper under the pile when the lighter got to hot to hold and still it would not lite. I had to go to the store and buy lighter fluid, that I have no place to safely store, to get the charcoal to finally light. I was very disappointed in your product.

Terrible would not light

I bought a bag of mesquite charcoal 2 months ago and I kept it sealed and inside my garage, I've used it twice in that time and it would not light unless I sprayed lighter fluid on it now this time that did not work. I've had this problem once before.

Two stars because it works as charcoal and although I was able to light it without lighter fluid much of the charcoal was wasted waiting for the 'match light' to burn off.
I would like to start by pointing out that this was fresh charcoal. I returned from the store with it, poured a third of the bag into the grill, moved the stragglers onto the mound, and tried to light it.
I remember when match light meant just that. You would toss a match on, hear a slight whoosh, and your coals would be on their way to heating up. However, I can certify this charcoal as 100% whoosh free.
I started off with a BBQ lighter, trying to light coals along the outside and the top. I then attempted holding the lighter under a briquette for about thirty seconds; nothing. At this point, I decided to upgrade to a kitchen torch. Even with the high-temperature lighting was difficult. I had to hold the torch in place until a part of one of the briquettes was hot. Finally, there were some flames, but only above the briquette that I torched. I proceeded to light a few briquettes in different areas this way.
There was now a slow process of lumps of coal being heated by adjacent coals until it produced some flame. After thirty minutes, about 70% of the coals had ash but there was still a visibly cold spot. I aimed the kitchen torch for a gap in the center of the cold spot and torched it until I ran out of butane.
By the time the final coals were heated and I was no longer concerned about match light chemicals burning off while I was cooking other coals were nearing the end of their life.

Won't light all the way

I have been using match light for years and have only had a couple of issues. The last 4-5 bags I have purchased either barely light at all or lights fast with lots of flame but then about 10 minutes in do nothing but smoke and the briquettes don't ash and burns very cool. It's ruined several BBQ's lately and I am re-thinking my charcoal purchases now.

Wouldn't light

I bought three bags of Match Light charcoal. Opened one and used part of the bag with no issues. I stored the remained of the bag in an air tight container in my hallway. Went to use it again, and would not light. Opened a new bag, would not light. Opened the third and final bag and it would not light, either. Very disappointed in this product!

Beyond Irritated!

At the end of last season I bought a bag of matchlight (Lights instantly every time is their claim) and it did not light! Was ticked off but figured I got a bad bag...nope this year bought a new bag and for the last half hour a box of matches later...I still don't have charcoal lit! I tried twisting paper into rolls to help burn and ignite but nope, nothing. If could have given a 0 star I would have. The only thing burned away is my money...
