[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent product. Allows my high-end Lenovo Legion 10 laptop to perform to full potential. Easily drives three 6K monitors along with external hard drives and other peripherals. Performs far better and more reliably than other vendors' docks, which I had tried before this one became available.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dock is actually near perfect. 135W and around a dollar per watt? This is great for those that have admin/productivity laptops that pull 100-120W. The price is right and everything has been working flawlessly. I just hope these don't get c
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this dock for my new Thinkpad P16 Gen 3, since it's the only dock that can provide the full required power to this laptop.
The dock very often fails to re-connect displays to my laptop when awakening from sleep. I constantly need to disconnect and reconnect the cable for the displays to be detected again.
Compatibility with older thunderbolt 4 laptops is also bad or nonexistent. I have a company-issued X1 Carbon Gen 9 and the dock will work as a USB hub but not be able to connect displays. It is technically possible to be backwards compatible with older laptops so I don't understand why not.
For a dock of this price, I would expect these things to not be a problem. I hope they are fixed eventually via firmware updates, but right now it's a big letdown.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing, particularly with display reconnection after sleep and with compatibility on older systems. We understand how disruptive it is when external monitors fail to reconnect reliably, and needing to unplug and re‑plug the cable is certainly not the experience we intend to deliver, especially with a dock designed to support high‑performance systems like your ThinkPad P16 Gen 3. Your comments regarding backward compatibility with your X1 Carbon Gen 9 are also appreciated. While functionality can vary based on system generation and Thunderbolt specifications, we recognize that you expected broader support given the dock’s capabilities and price point. Your feedback is important, and we are continually working to improve compatibility and performance through firmware updates. We recommend contacting our customer support team at 1-855-253-6686 so we can review your current firmware versions, system settings, and configuration to determine whether updates or adjustments can help improve your experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your review.
Only Lenovo made TB5 dock. Although the TB4 dock will work it requires you to take up two USB-C to mports to use it with a desktop monitor, so this one is the way to go
