I prefer a sturdy non-descript large mailing envelope. The Kraft Clasp Envelopes fill the bill. The 9 x 12 size meets my correspondence sizing needs because it allows an easy-fit for a range of sizes. In fact I have on occasion folded the 9 x 12 envelope over on itself when mailing something that may measure in the neighborhood of 4 x 6. If there is one flaw that I find in the construction of the 9 x 12 envelope it is in the lower lip of the item. I recommend a stronger adhesion for this area of the envelope just to be on the safe side when inserting a sizeable item.
This Staples Brown Kraft Clasp Envelopes was the perfect product that I needed to mail 8" x 11" directories to members of an organization that I belong to. These envelopes are well made. I had no problem in sealing the envelopes and placing labels in both the addressee and sender places on the envelopes. I found that the cost of the Staples envelopes to be reasonable and actually less expensive than other brands compared with the quality. I also found that the Staples envelopes were more count than other brand labels.
We use these enevelopes to mail information about our cemetery to prospective customers. I find them to be of high quality and I never worry the USPS will mangle the envelopes.
