They don't rip like cardboard folders. They have a little edge on the top inside corner to tuck paper under like in a check book register. You can wipe them off if they get food on them-as am using to hold loose recipes. Wish I'd purchased more than two. Love the bright colors they came in-and are priced the same or less than their cardboard counterparts. what' not to love?
