Stands up against handling by MANY peope

I use these tough books as 'journaling' books next to a 35 ft flagpole on a ridgeline overlooking San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point Harbor. This flag was an Eagle Scout community project by scout brothers Ryan & Kyle Pickell installed as a tribute to the fallen heroes of 9/11. A 'Flag Team' of local residents maintain the flag and site. We've installed a large steel-plated mailbox which over the years has held DOZENS of these well made composition books. They are used for 'journaling' by hikers equestrians mountain bikers. These books hold up against not only being handled by hundreds of trail-users but also against all sorts of weather conditions! These sturdy books are our journals of choice! Thank you.
The Staples Composition Book Assorted Colors 9-3/4" x 7-1/2" paper is fine and convenient. It has one flaw that I am finding annoying. No perforations. The pages are a single sheet bound in the middle. Take notes on a page and rip it out and the other half from the back of the book falls out. So what you write IN the book must STAY in the book. I didn't realize that when I purchased a couple of them recently. With the books being at a deep sale price the "pain" is slight. Still I have to adjust the way I use them.
I keep a record of my medical questions answers from the doctor and test results. I also record any treatments and/ or conditions. This solid-cover composition book slips into the file cabinet easily and is readily retrieved. The pages are not out-of-order nor are they wrinkled. I can carry it without a lot of trouble. Over the years I have filled one book and this is my second. Having covers in different colors makes it easy to identify the current log. Of course there are many other uses for such a fine book.
Pleasantly surprised to find the variety of colored book covers for my son' s classes. This way a different color for each class to stay more organized versus only black covers. Also thrilled to find so many of the books days after school started and other stores were sold out.
We use journals in our classroom every day to encourage students to write for a personal reason. Some might call it a diary as students are free to write about a topic of their choice and can keep some entries private. The boys prefer the term journal. Students have been using the traditional "Black Marbled" journals for several years. This year I saw these and their bright colors caught my eye. I quickly removed the black version from my basket and filled up on a class set of the colorful ones. My students love the change! They even got to choose their own color! I'll use them again next year.
