I had my GMRS setup wired up at a professional shop. No matter what they did the antenna wouldn’t communicate with my radio. Don’t buy, massive waste of money. Gonna resell the antenna on the secondary market.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please reach out to support@midlandusa.com to discuss options with the customer experience team. The antenna has a 1 year warranty.
I installed this antenna a few weeks ago after they were first released. Did some miles on some forest service roads, no complaints. Today (few weeks later) I took the truck out on some more normal rocky northeast trails, and I was talking on the radio and out of the blue, nobody was answering me anymore. I found that strange, and I looked in my side view mirror to find that my antenna was gone! I stopped and got out to look, and the base was there still attached, but the fiberglass pole was gone. Luckily another group member behind me saw a small pine branch hit the antenna, saw it break, and picked it up for me.
For the price of this antenna and the way it was marketed, I thought it would have been more durable. I was a little surprised when there wasn't a spring base offered for the model, but I was reassured by Midland that it wasn't really necessary. Never had this issue with a Firestik antenna for my CB, which is also a 48" fiberglass antenna, albeit with a spring base. Unfortunately I'm left very disappointed in this purchase and will be looking to replace it with something more durable in the near future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was a little disappointed with this antenna. I live in rural (flat) Illinois and I am currently using the MXTA26 6db antenna. It is shorter, has a spring base and is less than half the cost of the grand vista.
Most importantly, the grand vista provides LESS range. I’m going to keep playing with my setup to see if I can get some performance out of it but so far it is a waste of money for me
The antenna works very well! The next news for everyone who doesn’t know me is that I’m a bit odd. So anyway, I don’t always wear the antenna at the same place on the car. This is a long antenna. When I attach it to the luggage rack, it’s really up there. This antenna shines even better when you have it at the best advantage. I don’t have mine permanently anchored. Worn on a bumper, ( and I wear it there too), it works great and will go through the car wash or a fast food drive thru but on the luggage rack…don’t forget about it!
I replaced my CB Firestik with this antenna right behind my tire carrier on my Jeep. I tossed my CB in the trash and now have the MXT575. Way better performance with the GMRS antenna and
