This is a good cup of coffee, better than some other "quality" brands, but I find it lacking in... something. The nose is strong, smoky and rich. There's a feel of chocolate smoothness on the back of the tongue. But the smokiness is powerful on the palate and there's a moderate astringency on the front/middle of the tongue that's not altogether pleasant -- and while most coffee has this, I noticed this a bit more. That's a bit "par for the course" for a dark roast, and while this is mass produced brand, not a coffee-shop cup, I was hopeful from reading the reviews and press that this wasn't a "par for the course" coffee. Alas...That said, I do not object to it. It's drinkable and good with breakfast. It's just not inspired. YMMV. This is my opinion only and may not represent your experience.

I used to think the best smelling coffee was Maxwell House (lol). I use Peet's Major Dickasons in my Breville Barista Express, there is not a close second when it comes to making expresso for my latte's. My wife and I absolutely love these beans and can't imagine ever switching to another!

Pour over Melita. Very good taste, slight acidity. Have to get grind and water temp right for best result. I’m too careless. I make about a cup and 1/2 for a mug. I drink it from 154F to 147F. As it gets lower in temp it is too tepid for me. I am trying to eliminate evening coffee and make it only for myself so I still have enough for a few more days. I have two bags of store bought I will now use but I will return to online Peets in due course.
