I originally had three very old monitors connected through an HDMI/USB-C docking station and then a KVM switch to my work and personal laptops. Unfortunately, that setup never worked reliably, with resolution switching being the biggest issue. Since I work from home full-time, I eventually just left everything set up for my work computer and barely used my personal computer. When two of the monitors stopped working, I decided it was time for a completely different setup.
My two biggest requirements were the ability to easily switch between my work and personal computers and enough screen real estate to replace the three-monitor setup I was used to. The HP Series 5 Pro 49-inch DQHD Conferencing Monitor checked both boxes perfectly.
Setup was incredibly easy, and I absolutely love having a keyboard shortcut to switch back and forth between my two computers. It has actually made such a difference that I'm using my personal computer more than I have in years. The picture quality is excellent, and I really appreciate how flexible the screen layout is. Being able to arrange multiple windows across one huge display has genuinely made multitasking easier.
The built-in webcam is just OK — it's perfectly usable, but I wouldn't consider it a standout feature. I also haven't used the audio function of the webcam, so I can't speak to some of the audio issues mentioned in other reviews. I generally use the monitor's speakers for everyday audio and my own headset for meetings and calls.
The price is definitely on the higher side, so I was glad I was able to purchase it while it was on sale. That said, after using it, I feel like it has been worth every penny. For anyone coming from a multi-monitor setup who wants to maintain a ton of screen space while being able to easily switch between two computers, this monitor has been a fantastic upgrade.
