Great table

I bought this table a couple of months ago for my home office. Works well as a standing desk and has enough space for multiple monitors and work area. Motor runs smoothly and isn't noisy. I would recommend it to others for a home workstation.

A Mixed Review of the MotionGrey Standing Desk
on June 19, 2023
Posted by: Szebasztian
from Toronto
The MotionGrey Standing Desk, manufactured by the Canadian company, presents a mixed bag of pros and cons. While it offers the flexibility of a standing desk and boasts some notable features, concerns surrounding its durability and the speed of the motor that powers the table temper the overall experience.
One significant concern with the MotionGrey Standing Desk lies in the construction of its tabletop. The desk's surface consists of two separate pieces of plywood, raising doubts about its long-term durability. While plywood can provide a sturdy foundation, the decision to use two separate sections instead of a single, seamless surface may compromise the desk's structural integrity over time. There is a risk of warping, cracking, or separation between the plywood pieces, which could potentially impact the desk's longevity.
However, it's worth noting that the desk's motorized lifting mechanism operates quietly and allows for effortless height adjustments. While it may not be as fast as some competitors' models, the MotionGrey Standing Desk's slower motor speed is somewhat understandable given its price point. Despite this limitation, the desk still offers a wide range of height options, accommodating users of various heights and promoting improved posture and comfort during extended work sessions.
Another positive aspect of the MotionGrey Standing Desk is its sleek and minimalist design. It blends seamlessly into different office or home environments, providing a clean and contemporary aesthetic. The desk's effective cable management system ensures cords are kept organized and out of sight, enhancing both the desk's overall appeal and functionality.
Furthermore, MotionGrey's customer service deserves recognition. The company promptly responds to inquiries and demonstrates a willingness to address concerns, showcasing a commitment to customer satisfaction. This level of support enhances the purchasing experience and instills confidence in buyers' investment.
While the MotionGrey Standing Desk has its strengths, the use of two separate plywood pieces for the tabletop remains a notable drawback. This concern raises doubts about the desk's long-term durability and may dissuade potential buyers seeking a more robust and reliable option.
Considering these factors, it is important for potential buyers to carefully weigh the benefits of the MotionGrey Standing Desk against their concerns regarding its construction. Individuals who prioritize a sleek design, smooth motorized adjustment, and appreciate responsive customer service may find value in this desk. However, those who place greater emphasis on long-term durability and speed of motorized adjustments might be better served by exploring alternative options in the market. With a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, the MotionGrey Standing Desk offers some appealing features but falls short in terms of long-term durability and motor speed.

Probably good product… Assembly complex
on June 10, 2023

I think this is probably a good product, but I found assembly was very complex and Bestbuy hadn’t warned that assembly was required or I might have not cut this product. There was a sheet of paper with instructions that I didn’t find too helpful, but there was a video on YouTube that I was referred to. There was no talking during the video so I guess this is for somebody regardless of the language they speak. I had to watch the video several times to really be sure I was doing the right thing. Firstly, I think they had the one video to do , a number of desks with different top or desk sides. The parts that they used in the video or not exactly like the parts that I was supplied so I had to do a lot of guessing. At times the person in the video would turn around and unless I studied it very carefully I didn’t realize that he’d switch the whole thing around . As well as step where little feet are attached to the base was completely a message from the video. The guide holes are pilot holes were not where they were indicated on the video. I got the model with the biggest top, so maybe the guide holes or for something else Ultimately the cross piece between the two legs have a protrusion on it that pushed the desk up some. There were holes on the under surface of the desk that would accommodate the protrusion, but they were in the wrong place. Ultimately I got some longer screws to reach the gap from the crossbeam to the desk and I miss judged and three screws came through on the top of the desk. It goes up and down nicely now I have it together and the motor seems quite powerful so I think I will be happy with it eventually once I get over how angry I was at having to do This assembly with many steps and many screws

Material solid, discount misleading
on May 20, 2023

I bought this desk because of the big discount. I later realized that the discounted price is the regular price at another retailer. I kind of felt cheated but did not want to bother with cancelling or returning it.
I assembled it in about 30 minutes. Maybe more. Instructions came in the form of one piece of paper with images. Not the best, but it works, if you are not a stranger to assembling furniture of this type. They provide every price of screws with one extra.
When it’s all assembled, it felt quite nice. With all those little 3/8 inch screws holding the table top onto the support frame, you definitely do not want to sit on the desk. It’s good enough to have two monitors and two laptops with keyboards.
Of course , the height is adjustable. And quite nice. Have not yet tested out the memory function. Just hope the motor will last long enough.
Overall I am happy.

Seems to work well… Assembly extremely time consum
on May 17, 2023

I’ve just got it together after about three weeks. Had I known it would have taken as much time to assemble I would not have got it. When I looked at the Best Buy ad, I couldn’t see anything saying assembly required but maybe I missed it. And I suppose with it arriving in a box, about 5 inches thick and 3 ft.² I kind of thought some assembly would be required, but this was quite astonishingly time consuming and I’m not that unhandy. The instructions were just pictures and that always leaves some questions. There was a video that was also wordless and not too bad , but it looks like it had been made for a previous version, so the fasteners looked different. And there’s one spot where it suddenly appears with the little feet screwed on to the base. He did not show that step. And there were times that she would switch the upside down desk and for end and if I missed that I was completely lost so I had to spend a lot of time watching it. The pilot holes that were drilled on this bore no relationship to the holes that were needed to attach the base and I really studied it quite carefully. Possibly the design of this top underneath is slightly different for the designs or measurements on similar sizes. As well in the middle of the undersurface of the desk were four partially drilled holes about a centimetre across immediately adjacent to each other in the shape of a square. On the top of the support structure, there is one protuberance that is supposed to match up with one of those holes and it didn’t match. I decided just to put it together as is for now because I was exhausted as it turns out where are the two desk halves meet in the middle one is up, probably 3 mm in the middle due to the protuberance pushing it up. I might just live with it. I appreciated the note that the one person said… They were wiser than me and didn’t take it out of the box and they had great reluctance on the parts of the MOTION gray company which is a vancouver company of returning it until they were pressed about the Best Buy Policy and still the person had to pay to have it sent back to MOTION grey. And like that reviewer said, the savings of $400 on the special sale seem to go on forever and when he checked on Amazon, it seemed to him like he could get it at the same price and not have to pay the delivery fee. After I got it and was looking at all the assemblage stuff I was trying to figure out what made it for hundred dollar saving. The only thing I could see is the desk is the biggest of the models available so I guess the support structure is bigger as well as the top being bigger… And maybe it has a better motor or something because the disc seems to move up and down quite quickly. So all in all I think I will like it , but it definitely has left a very bad taste in my mouth, which it will take quite a while to diminish. I haven’t used it too much as of yet, but down further in this, you ask would I recommend it to a friend. I think I would at the“ sale“ price but I would warn them that there is a lot of assembly involved and you need to be quite skilful and patient. Maybe you should pay the geek squad to assemble it which I would guess would cost you $200.
