Just hooked up the Bose Solo to a new Samsung Smart TV yesterday. On some services the Bose soundbar sounds great. But on my Netflix, Amazon Prime and Dish programs the sound doesn’t pickup as good, like by a lot. What can I do to have the soundbar recognize the sound? Thanks

Hello Mark,

I am so disappointed in this. I pre-ordered this before it was available and am so sorry I wasted my time and money. After I received it, it followed the very simple set up instructions and... nothing. No sound from my Samsung TV. I followed the troubled shooting steps and... nothing. I went to the TV sound settings, and once I selected audio out put... I worked, but to be honest, the sound quality is no better than my TV. I tried to connect it to Bose Connect so a I can use it in conjunction with my new Bose speaker and... nope. Doesn’t work with a Bose connect and doesn’t have that functionality. What a waste. Today, I turn on the TV and... no sound form the TV. So, back it goes.

Hi John!
I'm sorry to hear this soundbar did not have the features you were looking for in a soundbar! I know you are planning on returning it, but I would be happy to help with a few things for you.
If you don't feel the sound is much better than your TV speakers you can adjust it! If you press the "Bass" button on your remote, then the volume + or -, you can adjust the amount of bass from the speaker. Then press the "Bass" button again to save your settings.
You are correct that this soundbar does not need any apps to use it. You won't need to connect it to the Bose Connect app or any others to be able to use it to its full potential! If an app compatible soundbar is what you are after, check out the Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700 as these connect to the Bose Music app and can be connected to other speakers!
Connected today, with a 500 bass module. Before this was just the down firing tv speakers. I can say hands down 100% better vocal and with the bass module I can feel the sound!! Yes, you will need a 3.5 mm cable for the bass module connection but you don’t have to deal with any apps!! The ease of use for this system is a winner!! btw - you can use any quality 3.5 mm cable it doesn’t have to be Bose.

Hello!
I'm glad to hear just how impressed you have been with your new soundbar and it's app free setup!
You are correct, any 3.5mm jack cable can be used to connect the soundbar to the bass module, but if you do want to get a Bose cable, reach out to us and we'll be happy to help! https://bose.life/2P7Tuqt
I connect the device to Bose via the included optical cable from a Sony Brava TV that is also used as computer monitor, thus I can listen to online music sources, too. Works great except I cannot use the TV remote vol control to set the sound level. Why or how can I set up the vol control to control sound level. One remote should control all.

Hi Gerry!
It's great to hear you are enjoying your new soundbar!
When using an optical cable, the optical can only send a fixed volume audio signal, so there are some extra steps you need to follow to control the soundbar with your TV remote.
You can teach your speaker to recognize the Volume and Mute controls of a remote that sends IR (infrared) commands. We have a handy guide that shows you how to do this available here: https://bose.life/34VuACl
Follow these steps and you'll be able to control the volume with your TV remote as well as the Bose remote!
I love Bose but you are losing your competitive edge with SONOS.

Hi Robin,
Thanks for your feedback.
You are correct a 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable will be required in connecting a bass module to your Solo TV speaker. This is because the Bose TV speaker does not utilize the Bose Music app to allow a wireless connection with the Bass Module 500 or 700.
I just received my New Bose TV Speaker-Sound Bar and it is so simple to set up! Great Sound,Very Clear Voice and the Bass is Perfect...Not over powering. The Small size is a asset too. Small but “Spacious” Sound. Job Well Done by Bose!
I purchased this a week ago to replace a competitor that was longer. This Bose does an outstanding job and all the features do exactly what they say. You can spend more but not get a better TV speaker. VERY, very, easy to install. Get one you will be pleased!
