The lid has a slight musty smell. Cleaning it, and the gasket with bleach did nothing. I suspect the silicone or plastic is out-gassing. This may seem inconsequential, but since it is so expensive this should have been considered when designing it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought one for my and my boyfriend along with the straw lid and we haven’t put them down. This is the perfect size; not too big so it still fits easily in my hand. Plus, my ice stays all day without melting. Would definitely recommend!
