The complete nostalgia factor is awesome. This set looks cool whether it is a truck or the Robot. Wish this had a trailer to go with it!! There are some issues while transforming it but anytime you have to move around a kit like this there are bound to be some minor issues. Great job on this one Lego well worth the money.
LEGO did a fantastic job recreating the look and transformability of the noble Autobot leader. He is fairly posable, though there are some mods on the web to add bendable knees to the model. While most of the transforming is smooth and he is sturdy, you do need to occasionally retighten some bricks in a few places after repeated transformations. Overall very clever and aesthetic to the original cartoon and toy robot.
I sincerely hope LEGO comes out with a matching Starscream. Way cooler than Megatron ever was, and who should be the rightful (wrongful?) leader of the Decepticons!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got as a gift, and I love it. Looks good on the shelf. Transformation can be a little difficult but otherwise perfect.
I loved reliving my childhood as I was building Optimus Prime. I was thrilled to see the completed product. My disappointment started when I tried to transform Optimus Prime. Each time I try to transform the set, pieces multiple pieces fall apart. The bottom half does seem to fully support the top half of the set. Optimus Prime is great to look at but disappointing on each attempt at transforming. For the cost. The set should be able to handle the transforming. I would recommend the set for display but would warn that transforming is very frustrating
I've loved coming home and looking at this set, a great rendition of Optimus Prime. So glad to have it! Wish that the arms could support themselves in a braced stance, though. The arms are not great at holding themselves up even without holding an item.
Extremely excited when I saw that this model had been released. Relatively easy build considering other builds I have completed. However, this one is among the most FRAGILE ones I have ever purchased. The connection point from the upper torso to the legs does seems a little weak in the clutch strength that is expected with Lego making moving a display piece challenging. This probably one of the only sets I would actually consider gluing together to avoid accidental destruction given that only 1 piece fell off and the picture is the result of trying to place it back.
If by transform, Lego meant "falls apart the minute you touch it", then they nailed it. It's not bad looking and I was skeptical of its ability to actually transform and I was right. It's barely held together at the waist, so it just breaks the minute you try to move it. As a piece to put on a shelf, it's fine. Except, his head is very, very tiny.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Optimus should be able to transform smoothly. Some rebuilding might be needed. Make sure all the parts are tightly pressed together. If you need help with the build, reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
