Very Happy

Upgraded my Forerunner 955 solar after 4 years. Very happy with the Fenix. I was immediately impressed by how lightweight it is, and the screen size for the 47mm is in the Goldilocks range for my wrist size. Overall think it is a good looking watch.
I primarily use the Garmin for running training and golf. The Fenix captures the needed features for both perfectly.
The Fenix displays the same running data I enjoyed from the Forerunner (heart rate by range, speed, distance, and calories). I’ve heard people say the MIPs display is better during daylight, but I have not had any issue seeing the data during sunny runs.
The golf features are a massive improvement over the forerunner (which is not designed for golf). Love being able to see the green, and click on specific points to gauge measurement. I’ve played with the swing timing feature. I can’t tell whether I need to slow down my backswing, or if the sensors aren’t starting the clock as soon as I begin.
Finally, I thought the flashlight feature would be useless, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Unlike my phone which may or may not be in my pocket while at home, having a flashlight always on my wrist is a game changer. The light is adjustable and can be extremely bright. Certainly bright enough to find your way around a dark house.
On the downside, the battery life is more limited. My forerunner solar was falling off after 4 years, but I certainly have to charge the Fenix more than I did the forerunner. The motion sensors for to detecting when I’m trying to read time have not been as sensitive as I’d have liked, so I leave display always on. I find that I’m charging for brief periods a couple times a week, and might be worried if I were doing long expeditions, but the battery life is sufficient for several days in a row.
In sum, the Fenix is an overall work horse of a smart watch. If you want a watch that will adopt to any of your hobbies and has all the features, it’s definitely worth it.
Ditched the Apple Ultra for seamless connection to Peloton machines as well as more comprehensive results. In-reach option works well and happy with the purchase. I’ll keep my Apple phone, for now, but won’t go back to the watch.
Coming from an G1 Apple Watch Ultra, I was just ready for something new. I’ve been blown away by the hiking, running, and golf accuracy. I knew this was going to be a change I would be really happy with.
Love everything about this watch except for constant buffering and loss of contact while playing music. This issue is why I returned mt F8 Pro. I thought the F9 pro in-reach would fix this issue. It did not. I returned my F 9 and bought Ultra 4. It works perfectly.
