Wonderful printer

Replaced a smaller HP LaserJet. Extremely fast first page output. Fairly quiet. Duplexing is awesome. My wife set it up without any help and she would consider herself a computer novice. The scanning tray seems a little flimsy but so far it has not caused any issues. I would recommend this printer.

So Far So Good, but..

This is an attractive multifunction machine. The buttons are grouped nicely with the fax buttons on the left and copy buttons on the right. It is fast and makes an great copy. The only complaint I can even come up with is that the fax/copy feed is noisier than I would have anticipated and if I had a choice I would have made the buttons maybe an opaque white or something to offset the black on black. This might not mean a thing to someone with better vision than me! Overall, I am pleased so far with my 12/2011 purchase.

Software was very difficult to install. CD that came with printer did not work and had to search for a solution on Google. HP website had no usefull information on my problem. Finally had to download drivers and install from files on computer. Other than that everything works great.

This is a great MFP for basic office work (or as an all-in-one for a home environment too). Everything worked out-of-the-box. Install was easy using the provided software. First page out is quick. Low noise. Easy to scan and fax. Only feature I miss is "scan to USB".

After about 2 weeks use: I'm using this as a scanner/copier/printer (no landline for faxing). Setup was quick and easy, though part of that is due to previous experience - the picture instructions might not be clear to someone new to HP products. I like not having to pull open a drawer to load paper, but have to remind myself to push the ok button when I reload after running out. The scanner works well with Paperport Pro 14 - switches easily from sheet feeder to flatbed while scanning to a single file. It sometimes picks up several sheets of paper when printing or copying, but I think that's due to the excessively low humidity in my office this winter.

Have a Mac?

The WiFi connection on this printer is impossible to set up if you are using a Mac. I tried everything. It's supposed to connect via WiFi to your computer as soon as you plug it in - it doesn't connect. The user information you get to set it up doesn't tell you how to set up the WiFi connection, you have to do multiple searches on the web. The Mac set up disk does not work for the latest Mac operating system, you have to download a firmware update. I returned this product. At least that was easy.
