Great detectors, terrible base plates
on April 16, 2026

The detectors themselves were easy to setup, pair, and test. The base plate however, was the absolute worst design I have ever seen. It does not fit properly in a standard round ceiling box if you happen to mount it there. It only fits in a single gang box. But even if you are just mounting it to drywall it is terrible. It only works with the small, difficult to work with screws and anchors -- if you try to use drywall screws or anything else the detector will not snap into the base plate. Even using the provides screws and anchors it was difficult to install the detector. The most frustrating part of this is that any other smoke detector you buy has this problem solved.Just use the standard design base plate that has been around for decades -- one that you can use any number of screws and any size box and twists on easily without having to tighten and loosen screws so the detector will snap on.

Awesome fire alarms

Awesome fire alarms. All 5 of my old ones went off over and over cause they were so old. These fit in the same spots my older wired alarms were. These came already paired and went up on same screws. Feel much safer. Highly recommend.

Excellent product

Excellent product, I switched because I got tired of false alarms during quick power failures that would cause all the alarms to sound in the middle of the night.
My only complaint is that the circumference of the new units are smaller than the typical box store units that I’m replacing. They show old paint marks etc.
I had to leave the old mounting plates in place and mount the new one on top of them to hide the old paint marks.

I purchased the 10 year battery smoke alarms for rental houses

I purchased the 10 year battery smoke alarms for rental houses. Smoke alarms have to have a ten year battery if they are rented to a Section Eight eligibil tenant.
